Minivans Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi): left and right hand drive

Mitsubishi is a famous Japanese company that produces a wide variety of products: engines, aircraft, motorcycles, electronics, storage media (Verbatim is a trademark owned by Mitsubishi), cameras (Nikon). You can list for a long time, but in this article we will talk about minivans, on which the proud Mitsubishi Motors logo - Mitsu Hisi (three nuts) flaunts.

The most famous minivan of this company in Russia is a 7-seater Mitsubishi Grandis. Unfortunately, its production was discontinued in 2011, however, you can still see a lot of these cars on our roads.

Technical characteristics of Grandis are quite indicative:

  • 2.4-liter 4G69 gasoline engine;
  • power - 162 horsepower at 5750 rpm;
  • maximum torque of 219 Nm is achieved at 4 thousand rpm;
  • 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual transmission.

The car belongs to the D-class, the body length reaches 4765 mm, the wheelbase is 2830. The weight is 1600 kg, the load capacity is 600 kg. Landing formula: 2+2+2 or 2+3+2. If desired, the rear row of seats is removed, which significantly increases the volume of the luggage compartment.

In general, we have only positive emotions from the car.

What I liked the most:

  • rustic in appearance, but very comfortable interior, with thoughtful ergonomics;
  • high level of reliability - for three years of operation there are practically no serious breakdowns;
  • excellent cross-country ability on snowy roads;
  • good handling

Of the negative points, one can only note the moral obsolescence of electronics, not the most convenient rear-view mirrors, a fairly low ground clearance and high fuel consumption in the urban cycle.

It is quite possible to buy such a used car - prices range from 350 thousand (issue 2002-2004) to 500 thousand for cars of 2009-2011. Before buying a used car, do not forget to enlist the support of a friend who is well versed in technology or make a paid car diagnostics.

Other models of Mitsubishi minivans were not officially presented in Russia, so we will list those models that entered our market from abroad. Many of them can still be ordered at various auto auctions, which we wrote about on Vodi.su, or imported from Japan.

Mitsubishi Space Star - subcompact van on the Mitsubishi Carisma platform. Produced in 1998-2005. A striking example of a family 5-seater van, equipped with gasoline engines (80, 84, 98, 112 and 121 hp) and diesel engines with 101 and 115 hp. He was distinguished by a quite pleasant, even somewhat conservative appearance.

It is worth saying that according to the results of crash tests in Euro NCAP, it did not show the best results: 3 stars for driver and passenger safety, and only 2 stars for pedestrian safety. Nevertheless, in the most successful year - 2004 - about 30 thousand of these cars were sold in Europe.

Many remember the full-size minivan Mitsubishi Space Wagon, which began to be produced back in 1983, and ceased production in 2004. This is one of the first minivans that became popular both in Japan and around the world. The level of reliability of this car is evidenced by the fact that even today you can buy cars of the 80-90s for 150-300 thousand rubles.

The last generation (1998-2004) was produced with 2,0 and 2,4 liter diesel and petrol engines. Front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive were available. In principle, the Space Wagon became the predecessor of the Mitsubishi Grandis.

Favored by the public in the early 2000s minivan Mitsubishi Dion. The 7-seater family car had front or all-wheel drive, was equipped with gasoline and diesel engines (165 and 135 hp).

It had enough, for those times, "minced meat":

  • parking sensors;
  • climate control;
  • full power;
  • ABS, SRS (Supplemental Restraint System or passive safety system, in other words AirBag) and so on.

It can be seen that the car was intended specifically for the US markets, because it has a characteristic massive grille. Although it was also popular in the markets of countries with left-hand traffic, right-hand drive cars are offered in large numbers in Siberia and the Far East.

As you can see, unlike other manufacturers - VW, Toyota, Ford - Mitsubishi does not pay the same attention to minivans.
