Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 DID Fischer Edition - with standard skis

Studies show that there are many avid skiers among Mitsubishi car owners. The company decided to live up to their expectations. In collaboration with Fischer, a well-known manufacturer of ski equipment, a limited edition Mitsubishi ASX was created.

Compact SUVs are a hit. Not only in Poland, but also in the European arena. Therefore, it is not surprising that each manufacturer is fighting for its own piece of the “pie” and seduces customers in different ways. Those interested in buying a Mitsubishi ASX can choose from a super-efficient 1.8 D-ID diesel engine, a sporty RalliArt version, or a Fischer version signed by the ski manufacturer.

The idea of a partnership between an automotive group and a leading manufacturer of ski equipment is the result of research conducted among Mitsubishi customers. They indicated that many of them were avid skiers.

The ASX special edition features heavy-duty equipment including a rack, a 600-litre Thule Motion 350 Black roof rack, Fischer RC4 WorldCup SC skis with RC4 Z12 bindings, silver vent frames and Fischer logo embroidered floor mats. For an additional PLN 5000, we get semi-leather upholstery with the Fischer special edition logo and eye-catching bright yellow leather stitching.

The ASX hit the market in 2010 and underwent a delicate facelift two years later. The front bumper with LED daytime running lights has changed the most. Mitsubishi designers also reduced the area of unpainted parts in the bumpers. As a result, the updated ASX looks more elegant. Pretending to be strict SUVs is no longer in vogue.

The interior is designed in a classic style. Mitsubishi designers did not experiment with colors, shapes and display surfaces. The result is a cabin that is clear and easy to use. Finishing materials will not disappoint. The upper parts of the dashboard and door panels are sheathed with soft plastic. The lower elements are made of durable yet beautiful material. You can have reservations about the location of the on-board computer button - it was built into the dashboard, just below the instrument panel. To change the type of information displayed, you need to reach for the steering wheel. Not convenient. We emphasize, however, that the real need to change the testimony rarely arises. On a single color screen, Mitsubishi clearly placed information about engine temperature, fuel capacity, average and instantaneous fuel consumption, range, total mileage, outside temperature and driving mode. The best years behind the audio system. The game was decent, but it was slow on a 16GB USB drive, which cars with more advanced media stations easily handled.

The compact crossover is built on the platform of the larger second-generation Outlander. Mitsubishi claims that the cars share 70% of the common components. Even the wheelbase has not changed. As a result, the ASX is spacious enough to accommodate four adult passengers. Plus for a 442-liter boot with a double floor and a sofa that, when folded, does not create a threshold that interferes with the transport of luggage. The most necessary items can be placed in the cabin. In addition to the compartment in front of the passenger, there is a shelf under the center console and a storage compartment under the armrest. Mitsubishi has also taken care of three openings for cans and side pockets with space for smaller bottles - 1,5-liter bottles do not fit.

The main power unit - petrol 1.6 (117 hp) - is offered only with front-wheel drive. Fans of winter madness will definitely pay attention to the 1.8 DID turbodiesel version, which in the Fischer version is available only in the 4WD version. The heart of the transmission is an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. The driver can influence his work to some extent. A button on the center tunnel allows you to select 2WD, 4WD or 4WD Lock modes. In the first, torque is supplied only to the front wheels. The 4WD function activates the rear axle drive when a skid is detected. Mitsubishi reports that, depending on the situation, from 15 to 60% of the driving forces can go to the rear. Peak values are available at low speeds (15-30 km/h). At 80 km/h, up to 15% of the driving power goes to the rear. In extremely adverse conditions, the 4WD Lock feature will be useful, as it increases the portion of power sent to the rear.

The 1.8 DID engine develops 150 hp. at 4000 rpm and 300 Nm in the range of 2000-3000 rpm. You may like its features. 1500-1800 rpm is enough for a smooth ride. Between 1800-2000 rpm the bike takes a deep breath and the ASX kicks forward. Flexibility? Unconditionally. Dynamics? It takes 10 seconds to accelerate to “hundreds”. Engine efficiency is also impressive. Mitsubishi talks about 5,6 l / 100km and ... not much different from the truth. It is quite possible to achieve 6,5 l / 100 km in the combined cycle.

The 6-speed gearbox, despite its considerable length, works surprisingly accurately. However, this does not make the ASX a car with a sports soul. For happiness, a more communicative steering wheel is missing. The sound of the engine under heavy load is not very pleasant. The suspension punches through the larger bumps, which can be surprising given that the settings aren't hard. ASX allows the body to go through corners faster. It always remains predictable and maintains the desired track for a long time. High-profile tires (215/60 R17) contribute to the effective overcoming of bumps. For Polish roads as found.

The price list of the Fischer version with the 1.8 DID engine opens the Invite equipment level for PLN 105. In addition to the aforementioned winter gadgets, we will get, among other things, 490-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, automatic air conditioning and a USB audio system with steering wheel controls.

The best offer is Intense Fischer (from PLN 110) with xenon headlights, hands-free kit and LED daytime running lights. Showroom invoices may be lower than list prices. On the Mitsubishi website we can find information about 890-8 thousand. Cash discount in PLN.

Signed by Fischer ASX is an interesting alternative to other versions. Not only because of the accessories for winter sports enthusiasts - a roof rack, a box and skis with bindings. Leather and Alcantara upholstery, stitched with poisonous green threads, enlivens the black-filled interior. Too bad it's not included as standard.
