Models with the coolest rudders
Content
Until autonomous cars are completely conquered, the steering wheel will remain an essential element of any car's interior.
Lamborghini sesto elemento
If you know what the Sesto Elemento looks like, you will understand why this wild steering wheel fits the rest of the car. It is wrapped in bright red leather, with very sharp corners, exposed screws and cool buttons.
Pagani Huayra
The steering wheel of the Huayra is slightly lowered, but still painfully pleasant. The gear levers feel like they've been made in 100 hours, and the wide, flat section of the airbags blends in well with the rest of the design.
Aston Martin One-77
The steering wheel in the ultra-rare One-77 is weird, and that's what makes it cool. If you look closely, you will notice that it is more oval than round, with flatter top and bottom parts. There is also some kind of expensive metal coating.
Caterham Sevens SuperSprint
The Seven SuperSprint was a limited edition Caterham inspired by the classic that sold out in just 7 hours. It's not often that you get into a new car with a stylish, thin wooden steering wheel, so it's understandable why the model was so coveted.
The Tomaso P72
It may have a boring name, but the P72 is one of the most interesting new cars at the moment. With a V12 engine under the hood, stunning looks and a manual transmission, this is the dream of many car enthusiasts. The beautifully designed steering wheel is just a bonus.
McLaren F1 GTR
The F1 GTR steering wheel has three Alcantara-wrapped spokes with the carbon fiber GTR logo in the middle. Apart from a few buttons, this is definitely a pretty simple solution. That's why it's cool.
Mercedes AMG One
The AMG One steering wheel is shaped like the one used by the company's Formula 1 team, with an airbag in the middle. The design makes sense considering the car is powered by a Formula 1 engine.
Lotus Evija
Like the AMG One, Lotus Evija, the British company's new all-electric supercar, uses a rectangular steering wheel inspired by Formula 1. It looks very cool and fits perfectly with the rest of the interior design.
BMW M3 (E30)
Later versions of the M3 (E30) received an airbag steering wheel in America. In Europe, this model has a pretty three-spoke steering wheel that blends perfectly with the rest of the cabin.
enos cosmos
The triple engine of Eunos Cosmo is not the only thing that distinguishes this model. This cool steering wheel is held up by two lower spokes and features a unique button layout on either side of the rotor-shaped logo.
McLaren 570S
The steering wheel in the McLaren 570S looks great, and the lack of buttons allows you to focus on driving rather than being tied to infotainment controllers.
Spyker C8
The four-spoke steering wheel in the first Spyker C8 should be reminiscent of the propeller at the time. It looks really cool, but we have no idea how the driver will cope in the event of an accident.
Ferrari F40
The interior of the F40 screams simplicity and that is transferred to the steering wheel. It is designed by Momo, with no unnecessary details or buttons to distract the driver from an incredible road experience.
BMW Z8
The steering wheel of the Z8 has four elements on each of the three spokes and perfectly matches the modern design with classic styling.
Subaru XT
The XT doesn't just look weird from the outside - the interior also contributes to the overall look of the car. The most obvious in it is the steering wheel with an asymmetrical pistol shape and a square center.
Pagani Zonda R
All Pagani steering wheels are beautiful, but the Zonda R design is by far the most interesting. The tachometer is located in the center of the steering wheel instead of the digital instrument panel at the front. Pretty cool.
Aston Martin Lagonda
In addition to the quirky dashboard, early Lagonda models had a cute single-spoke steering wheel that allows the driver to see the dashboard work without issue.
BMW M.
In the past few years, BMW has used the same design for its M models. It is the perfect combination of style, comfort and modern functionality.
Ford Mustang (first generation)
When you think of the interior of a classic model, something like this usually comes to mind. The steering wheel of the first generation Mustang is a symbol of those used in most American models of that era - large, thin and with three thin spokes.
Ferrari
Since Enzo's debut, Ferrari has used a multi-button steering wheel shape to turn on headlights, wipers, and even turn signals. You can also choose different color configurations for the elements to represent a racing driver, for example.
