Shaggy carpet - what to choose? How to care for a long pile carpet?

Long pile carpets have made a splash in the market for a simple reason - they are extremely pleasant to the touch! At the same time, they look beautiful, especially if you properly care for them. In our guide, we suggest what to look for when choosing a shaggy carpet and how to care for long hair.

Immerse your feet in a soft carpet - a real pleasure! No wonder the so-called fleecy carpets or carpets with a long pile are very popular. The longer the fleece, the greater the impression of softness and openwork, especially if it is made of materials that are pleasant to the touch. A fluffy rug undoubtedly guarantees comfort - but will it fit into any interior?

Hairy carpet - how to choose it for arrangement?

Modern interiors as well as those in a natural, rustic or boho style will benefit from the introduction of such a detail. Shaggy models warm the interior, literally and figuratively, making them the perfect complement to cool modern style arrangements dominated by gray, black and metallic shades. Contrary to its outward appearance, a shag rug goes well with industrial décor, especially if you choose a model with a warm hue.

Shaggy rugs also go great with glam or boho style. They are relatively versatile and you won't have to worry about stylistic dissonance when choosing a model for your interior. All you have to do is choose the right colors.

What to look for when choosing a fluffy carpet?

When choosing a shaggy model, it is worth considering the preferred length of the bristles. The effect of fluffiness depends on it to the greatest extent. Some carpets, although they fall into this category due to the visual effect, do not have a long pile at all - they can be only a few millimeters. Others, in turn, have hair several centimeters long, resulting in a very fluffy effect.

It is also worth paying attention to the overall thickness of the model and the material from which it is made. Fluffiness can be guaranteed by both natural and artificial fabrics. The latter, however, are easier to clean and also dry faster. You can also choose from blends such as semi-cotton and polyester. When choosing a material, it is also worth remembering about allergies. Allergic reactions to some natural materials are quite common, especially in children. However, dust allergies are also common, so long pile carpet should be properly cared for.

Color is also important, not only because it suits the arrangement, but also because it is practical. Light shades get dirty more easily, but it is on them that the fluffy effect looks most luxurious.

Carpet with long pile - how to care for it?

Models of this type collect much more dirt than models with a short pile. Between long hair, dust mites and micro-organisms that are invisible at first glance easily gather. Therefore, frequent cleaning of such a carpet is simply necessary. Vacuuming regularly—at least once every 3-4 days—helps prevent germs from building up. It is best to do this in two directions, against the fibers and against the fibers. Thanks to this, you will remove dirt from all sides. Also, do not forget about the bottom layer of the carpet, in which bacteria also accumulate.

Vacuuming isn't everything. A carpet with a long pile is also worth washing from time to time. Thanks to this, it will retain a beautiful shade and fresh aroma. How to do it? You can use a steam machine or have this cleaning done by a carpet and upholstery cleaner. There is another method that does not require special equipment - dry shampoo for carpets. Washing with water is highly discouraged - because fleecy carpets dry very slowly due to the long pile. If not properly dried, they can, in turn, acquire an unpleasant odor.
