Seasickness. How to deal with it?

Seasickness. How to deal with it? Dizziness, headaches, nausea and vomiting are just some of the symptoms of motion sickness that can make life difficult for many travelers. What are its causes and how to deal with it?

The labyrinth, that is, the organ located in the inner ear, is responsible for kinetosis, that is, motion sickness. It is the labyrinth that receives information about the position of our body, regardless of whether we are moving or resting.

The editors recommend:

The police facilitate navigation. What does this mean for drivers?

The car is like a phone. Is it difficult to master its functions?

Driver in wrong shoes? Even a fine of 200 euros

The problem begins when driving, for example, in a car: the labyrinth then sends information to the brain that our body is in place, and the eyes receive signals that it is in motion. They note, for example, that the landscape outside the window is changing, houses, trees, poles, etc. flash by. etc. The labyrinth also responds to acceleration, deceleration, roll angle, or bumps caused by driving on uneven surfaces. Consequently, our brain receives conflicting information that causes motion sickness.

What can be done to prevent symptoms? It's better to sit in the front than in the back, because then we can see the moving landscape better. If the maze says something different and the eye or ear says something different, it's best to disturb that message. For example, acupressure or earmuffs work well. Pills are a last resort, but driving helps too. People with seasickness should not eat heavy meals before traveling. Take frequent breaks while traveling.
