Built on the outskirts of a huge training ground of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Patriot Park was in early September not only a place to demonstrate the combat vehicles of the Russian army and the latest industry proposals in this area. field. Equipment was also presented: transport and aviation, and even for the fleet (ships, of course, in the form of mock-ups) and vehicles for engineering troops.

Cars

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have been intensively modernizing their vehicle fleet for several years now. Plans in this area have been and remain very ambitious, but they face serious obstacles. For example, in the field of heavy special vehicles, the Platforma program failed, under which Kamaz had to develop new, very heavy multi-axle carriers that would replace the Belarusian designs. Meanwhile, choosing to drive them with an internal combustion electric motor (an internal combustion engine drives an electric generator that generates electricity that feeds electric motors in the wheels) turned out to be a mistake, or rather, exceeded the company's capabilities. It is interesting that Minsk builders came to similar conclusions in the 80s. Currently, the aircraft has to be reconfigured for a "classic" drive, which means the need to install a huge gearbox, a set of drive shafts, intermediate gears, etc., which will significantly increase the mass and complexity of the design.

Yes, and simpler Kamaz-heavyweights collect not very flattering reviews. For example, cross-country truck tractors are widely criticized for their suboptimal design, propensity for mechanical damage to the drive system, etc. Meanwhile, the existing Russian manufacturers of similar equipment Rusits and BAZ have been brought to bankruptcy. However, BAZ was bought by the Almaz-Antey anti-aircraft missile concern, as it needed carriers for components of its missile and radar systems, as well as command posts. The military, on the other hand, “remembered” about BAS and orders for them are systematically growing. Unexpectedly, the Rusits KZKT-2016 with an active (mechanized) semi-trailer appeared on the Army of 7428, which is part of the 3F30-9 system used to service the ballistic missiles of the Bulava ship. The active five-axle semi-trailer has four pairs of wheels driven by electric motors and all five pairs of steered axles. The electric motors are powered by a 250 kW diesel generator mounted on the tractor. Thus, a car's turning radius of 25 m is comparable to its length. Moscow-based KB Motor also offered even larger and heavier trailers for transporting missiles and other handling equipment to them.

Lighter and more classic trucks are needed in much greater numbers, but here, too, more ambitious projects are progressing more slowly than anticipated. Progress on the most promising Typhoon program is moderate - in more modern cars developed by KamAZ, there are a lot of imported components (under threat or under sanctions), and Urals are considered not very promising. Nevertheless, cars from the older Motovoz family are again presented, but with a slight facelift. For example, Motovoz-M Urala is supposed to replace the popular 4320 models, but its carrying capacity should be as much as 11 tons, and the gross weight has increased to 22 tons (4320 - up to 16 tons). Of course, the shorter Motos with a carrying capacity of 6-7 tons will be the most numerous. There are also vehicles classified as MRAP, but in practice they are far from mine protection - they are rather lightly armored, universal off-road vehicles. He made his debut at the Moscow exhibition, among others, a very simple car of this category "Vepr-B", developed by the GAZ group on the basis of the Sadko passenger truck.
