Speedway motor - its weight is of key importance. Requirements for players

To be eligible to compete, your gear must weigh at least 77 kg. However, it also shouldn't carry much more weight, as the weight will cause the bike to slow down. This is already pouring into the result, and no one wants to take the worst place during the competition. Therefore, a speedway motorcycle must be free of all unnecessary parts that make it heavier and less maneuverable.. Competitive athletes always try to get as close as possible to this magical limit of 77 kg and exceed it by a maximum of several hundred grams.

Speedway Motorcycle - Power Isn't Everything

A speedway motorcycle must also comply with several other rules. Its exhaust system must be original, created by the manufacturer. In order for equipment to be eligible for competition, it must comply with the FIM guidelines. Tires must also be homologated by that organization for that year. The engine and chassis must be free of titanium alloys. What, besides technical problems? If a specific motorcycle is entered in the competition, it must start on it. You cannot register equipment other than the one you intend to ride.

Construction of a motorcycle for a speedway

The most important component of a left turn bike is the engine. A speedway motorcycle must have an engine consisting of:

• cylinder;
• spark plug;
• carburetor;
• up to four valves.

It is also important that such machines usually hold up to 2 liters of fuel. So they are not suitable for normal city driving. Interestingly, elements such as discs or springs need to be replaced every few gears. And who are the most famous manufacturers of such motors? At the moment, the most popular brands are Jawa and Giuseppe Marzotto. 

Speedway motorcycle - the engine provides extraordinary acceleration.

Such a technique can usually accelerate to a maximum of just over 100 km / h. However, this does not mean that the speedway motorcycle does not have spectacular acceleration! It can reach top speed in just a few seconds. As a rule, the engine of this type of motorcycle has a power of more than 75 kW. It should be noted that these are not the most powerful and fastest motorcycles. The best of them reach speeds of up to 280 km / h, and their power exceeds 160 hp. However, it should be remembered that the speedway has slightly different requirements related to the maneuverability of the vehicle and its direct acceleration. Therefore, it does not need to reach such high speeds. It shouldn't, because that's a recipe for dangerous accidents.

How much does an off-road motorcycle cost? Equipment cost can be quite high

Unfortunately, an off-road bike is cheap. Full high-end equipment costs about PLN 35-50 thousand. zloty. If you are just starting out, you can certainly buy a cheaper model to learn how to ride. Remember that buying a speedway motorcycle is only part of the cost that a person who wants to ride and be an athlete must bear!

What engine parts cost the most?

In one season, up to 7-8 engine replacements are usually made, and its cost can reach PLN 20. zloty. Participation in competitions is a regular repair of equipment that wears out very quickly during races. Not surprising. The reason is the high speeds developed in a few seconds, and the fact that the technique is prone to damage.

Motorcycle for speedway - the price of equipment and operation on the speedway

Every 15 runs, a speedway motorcycle must undergo an inspection, and every 100 runs, a major overhaul.. Some wheels will be expensive. They wear out very quickly, and the price of a set (that is, two) is often around 3 PLN. zloty. A participant can wear out more than 250 tires in one season! Replacing the entire clutch can cost 5-6 thousand. zloty. One season of regular launches can cost approximately PLN 50. zloty. Therefore, the initial purchase of equipment is only the beginning of the costs and you need to be prepared for a fairly large investment that will not necessarily pay off during the competition.

A speedway motorcycle is a very specific two-wheeled vehicle that has a very narrow application. If you want to buy one and ride it on the track, you have to reckon with really high costs. However, if you're passionate, we suspect that even the biggest expense won't discourage you from getting started!
