Motorcycle tires

Since a motorcycle usually has only two wheels, the right choice of tires is critical to ensure the best grip when maneuvering and handling, while at the same time increasing driving safety. Depending on what motorcycle you use, many tire manufacturers categorize them into on-road, off-road-enduro and racing, scooter and moped, cruiser and touring, racing and sports bike, ATV and chopper tires.

Most importantly, every tire has a different rim diameter, so make sure you get all the information you need from the bike's technical documentation when buying a tire. These parameters are expressed in inches and range from 8 to 21.

When choosing tires for a motorcycle, it is necessary to take into account the markings on their sidewalls, which, in addition to the diameter, include the width (usually from 50 to 330 mm), the ratio of the profile height indicated as a percentage to its width (from 30 to 600 mm), speed indices (in km /h) and load (in kg). Therefore, the tire may have the following marking on its side - 185/70 ZR17 M / C (58W), where 185 is its width, 70 is its height, which is 129,5 mm, Z is a speed index of +240 k / h, R - which it's a radial tire, 17" in diameter, M/C means it's "motorcycle only" and 58 indicates a maximum weight of 236kg.

Another parameter to consider is the season for which the tire is designed. At the same time, there are summer tires, all-season tires and even winter tires to choose from. Also, motorcycle tires can only be used on the front axle, the rear axle, or both. If we want to achieve optimal performance, proper assembly will be critical.

In addition, motorcycle and car tires may have an inner tube or be tubeless. The tread pattern can also vary from complex tires with numerous grooves and sipes to completely smooth tires.
