There is! But this option is only suitable for those who are engaged in the resale of vehicles and use non-motor oil as a way to make money. The fact is that the operation of the engine of a car with a mileage of more than four hundred thousand can be made smoother thanks to the use of gearbox oil in the engine.
Due to the increase in the fluid viscosity parameter, the power unit will not only work more clearly, but even stop buzzing for a while. True, the duration of such a transformation of the motor will be insignificant. But this is just enough to sell the car. That's just the new owner of the vehicle, unaware of fraud, will be able to drive only a few thousand kilometers. Then he will need a major overhaul and replacement of all components. It is unpleasant to buy a car and, in addition, spend a lot on engine repairs.
What are the differences between oils?
Both fluids have a number of significant differences, how transmission oil differs from engine oil, we said earlier. But in general, the following points can be distinguished:
- Special engine oil is designed to work in extreme conditions. That is, there are both high speeds and temperature fluctuations. All this together causes an increased fluidity of the liquid;
- Gearbox lubricant is designed to perform work under conditions of stable and low temperature. In addition, its work implies high mechanical loads, which are caused by the torsional elements of the gearbox design.
What will happen to the engine if the oil is filled incorrectly?
Precisely, this does not bode well for the engine. If the car owner, even by coincidence, topped up the gearbox fluid in the vehicle's engine, he will have to be prepared for such a turn of events:
- When operating in high temperature conditions, the transmission oil will begin to burn, thereby causing debris to enter the oil channels, pipes, and filters. In some cases, precipitation cannot be ruled out.
- If transmission oil enters the car's engine, the liquid will not be able to provide reliable protection to the cylinder block, shafts and other structural elements. Accordingly, bullying will begin very soon.
- The parameter of density and viscosity of gearbox oil is so high that after a while the seals will be squeezed out or leak.
- When scoring occurs, transmission oil will certainly end up in the combustion chamber or catalyst. The latter may melt. In such a situation, it will have to be changed.
- The possibility of oil getting into the intake manifold is not excluded. This phenomenon will lead to clogging of the throttle valve. The car owner will be forced to clean it if the car does not stop driving earlier.
- It will not do without problems with spark plugs. They will become dirty, and the power unit will work, to put it mildly, unevenly.
It is worth remembering that engine oil and gearbox oil are completely different fluids. And not only in its composition, but also in characteristics. Using them for other purposes can lead to a large number of problems for the motorist.
