Is it possible to charge an electric car by dragging it in the hall? You can - and it's good!

Manufacturers do not recommend towing electric vehicles, but it's no secret that you can charge almost any electrician this way. This method has already been used by Quriers, which has experimented with a Nissan Leaf with a Fiat Tipo - a method also tried by an American who towed a Tesla Model 3 in a Ford C-Max.

The YouTuber Tech Forum used a Tesla Model 3 with software version 9 that introduced more powerful regenerative braking. The experiment began with meters showing 365 kilometers of the remaining range (out of the nominal 499 kilometers). A 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid with a speed of 20-25 km / h was used as a tractor.

After stretching 1,6 km, the car increased its range by about 6,4 km in battery life, which increased from 227 to 230 and then dropped to 227 miles.

However, the energy balance showed even greater gains: 1 meter on the towline yielded a whopping 600 kilometers until the car started to show that it was again using more energy than it restored (“20,5 Wh / mile”).

While driving, the vehicle's projected range has increased from 320 to over 1 kilometer (600 miles). The towed Tesla Model 999 recovered energy at a rate of approximately 3 kWh per kilometer. This means that after 0,65 km the car has accumulated an additional 1,6 kWh of energy, which, realistically speaking, should be enough to drive about 1 km at a normal pace. The result fits well within the range indicated by the number next to the battery indicator.

ATTENTION. Towing a Tesla vehicle other than Transport mode may void your warranty!
