multimedia system. An advantage or an expensive addition?

multimedia system. An advantage or an expensive addition? Multimedia systems are becoming commonplace in modern cars. Thanks to them, you can use the hands-free kit, access audio files or navigate by downloading traffic information from the network. However, the system is often an expensive option and its operation is not always intuitive.

When preparing the UConnect multimedia station, Fiat proceeded from the fact that it should be comfortable for the driver and easy to use. Is it really true? We checked out the new Fiat Tipo.

multimedia system. An advantage or an expensive addition?Even the basic version of the Tipo, i.e. the Pop variant, has a UConnect head unit with USB and AUX sockets and four speakers as standard. For an additional PLN 650, Fiat offers to complete the system with two speakers and a Bluetooth hands-free kit, that is, wireless technology that allows you to connect the car with a mobile phone. By adding PLN 1650 to the UConnect base radio, you will get a system with the aforementioned hands-free kit and a 5" touch screen. Its control is simple - it practically does not differ from the control of a smartphone. Simply press your finger on the screen located in the center of the dashboard to, for example, find your favorite radio station. Tipo Easy has a multimedia system with touchscreen and Bluetooth as standard. In the flagship version of the Lounge, it gets a 7-inch display.

multimedia system. An advantage or an expensive addition? Many compact car buyers are interested in buying stock navigation. In the case of Tipo, you will have to pay an additional PLN 3150 (Pop version) or PLN 1650 (Easy and Lounge versions). Navigation can also be purchased in a package, which is the best solution. For Tipo Easy, a Tech Easy package was prepared with parking sensors and navigation at a price of PLN 2400. In turn, Tipo Lounge can be ordered with the Tech Lounge package for PLN 3200, which includes navigation, parking sensors and a dynamic rear view camera.

The rear view camera definitely makes reversing parking easier, especially in tight parking lots near malls. To start it, just turn on the reverse gear, and the image from the rear wide-angle camera will be displayed on the central display. In addition, colored lines will appear on the screen, which will indicate the path of our car, depending on which direction we turn the steering wheel.

multimedia system. An advantage or an expensive addition? The system was developed in collaboration with TomTom. Thanks to free and constantly updated information about traffic jams, TMC (Traffic Message Channel) allows you to avoid traffic jams, which means saving time and fuel.

UConnect NAV also has a built-in Bluetooth module with what's called music streaming, which means it can play audio files stored on your phone or tablet through your car's audio system. Another feature of UConnect NAV is the ability to read SMS messages, which greatly improves driving safety.
