So the belated appearance of the Beemvee, which otherwise handled the situation well among large coupes and offered cars that were well received from an aesthetic point of view, is somewhat incomprehensible.... But, of course, the company's executives have also tackled this problem, and there is something credible in the fact that the previous design of the 1 Series prevented major body changes. Thus, now that enka is on the new FAAR platform, they can afford more freedom in offering different derivatives.

Domagoj Lukets, chief Croatian designer at Beemvee, also had a lot of freedom of form. There are, of course, some laws of the house: the silhouette clearly indicates that the "twin" is twinned with the larger 6 and 8 series, yielding only centimeters in length. But it is far from a small car: with a length of 4526 millimeters, a width of 1800 millimeters and, above all, with a wheelbase of 2670 millimeters, it offers a spacious and spacious cab. The front sits perfectly without a doubt, but the rear, at least over long distances, will have to make small compromises. Mainly because of the space above their heads, as it will be difficult for them to sit upright due to the coupe's low line above 180 centimeters.

But well, those who "start" on such a car are mostly driven alone or in pairs.... There will also be plenty of luggage space in this case as the Gran Coupe has a 430-liter trunk in the rear and a large loading opening. Only the mighty rear end, along with the slender taillights, caused the most controversy when the first images of the new coupe hit the Internet. But, apparently, I can write that he needs to be given a chance. In fact, photographs are unfair to him, and a living machine looks much more solid and aesthetically perfect. He is one of those people who are easier to admire than photograph.

After the first kilometers behind the wheel, we can say that not only the shape speaks of the dynamics. One of the main goals in the development of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe was to create the driving performance inherent in the brand's DNA.... To begin with, it was necessary to strengthen the body, which required coupe lines and doors without additional frames around the windows. The rear of the vehicle is fitted with a multi-link axle as standard, and for total comfort, the M Sport chassis can be ordered 10 millimeters lower, as well as adjustable and adjustable shock absorbers from the accessories list. There are three engines; entry-level three-cylinder gasoline 218i with 140 "horsepower", intermediate and the only diesel on offer, 220d with 190 "horsepower" and the most powerful four-cylinder M235i turbocharged gasoline engine with a capacity of 306 "horsepower", which is connected as standard to all-wheel drive xDrive.

We didn't test the weakest, so we drove the other two along the beautiful roads of western Portugal. Turbodiesel convinces with its torque and is more suitable for those who choose a certain speed on such a car and like continuous driving in corners.. The new Gran Coupe fits perfectly here, and despite concerns that the drive axle is now on the front wheelset, power and steering are well coordinated, and the car is also neutrally balanced and doesn't put pressure on the nose. For those who want more dynamics, the M235i xDrive is the right choice. Don't expect brutality, but 306 horsepower will make flats shorter between corners, Thorsn's mechanical differential will eliminate unnecessary idling, and with standard M Sport brakes, you'll have complete confidence in the car when braking quickly. If you're one of those who like to impress by pulling off quickly at green lights, you'll want the standard "Launch Control" feature that optimizes perfect acceleration.

Not only those who value good driving performance will come into their own rights, but also those who like to feel comfortable and safe inside. The interior architecture of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe does not differ from that found in the 1 Series, so all the components are more or less the same. This means that the deuce is also digitized with three main components surrounding the driver: a projection screen, sensors, and a center screen. The latter is supported by the new BMW OS 7.0 interface, which also offers the user "treats" such as hand gesture control or speaking with the BMW virtual assistant. More advanced mobile phone users will appreciate the wireless connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols, as well as the ability to unlock and lock the car using an NFC key.
