Another approach is only for the uneducated observer, a knowledgeable brand is quite logical. Already with the C4 Cactus, they introduced a novelty - the flying carpet - or an extremely comfortable chassis that ensures that the car is driven with above-average comfort. If that's a very bold move in a car like this because we still love to drive fast on winding roads, it's a much smarter approach in a crossover. Few people buy a crossover to enjoy fast driving. If so, then maybe only on motorways and off-road, but by no means on a twisty road, let alone off-road without pavement.

Another logical move, of course, is form. A few years ago, Citroën announced that all or at least most of its future models would be built on the original C4 Cactus. Well, the similarities did remain, but the design idea was further developed and now the C5 Aircross expresses its design, which is quite unique. And we, without a twinge of conscience, can add this in a positive way.

The 4,5-meter-long crossover is a robust and muscular SUV, but it isn't. The French say they did not want him to be arrogant, and they succeeded completely. The car is available in 5 different exterior styles, and at the same time, the C580 Aircross is a friendly teddy bear that can take the whole family into its own hands. However, there is still enough space for their luggage, as the car has 5 liters of luggage space. But beware, there are three independent and movable seats in the second row, which makes the XNUMX Aircross stand out in a special segment. Needless to say, the adaptation of the interior or vice versa of the luggage compartment is quite extensive.

But if I mention kindness, it is not without reason. The C5 Aircross takes Citroën comfort to a higher level and is therefore a true ambassador for a new French comfort called the Citroën Advance Comfort program, which is of course complemented by flying carpet or progressive hydraulic cushions and dedicated luxury seats. ... If we add 20 different safety systems, six connectivity technologies and powerful engines, both diesel and gasoline, it becomes clear that the C5 Aircross cannot be ignored. In the end, not even the European Car of the Year jury (of which the author of this article is also a member) nominated him among the seven finalists.

The jury was convinced not only by the appearance, a rich set of auxiliary systems and spaciousness, but also by the pleasant interior. New digital gauges, a new center display and a beautiful gear lever stand out. It is clear that the credit is due to the PSA, but if it spreads well, then the latter, I hope, does not bother anyone.

And the engines? For the most part already known and tested, but it is interesting that in such a large crossover the French also offer an entry-level 1,2-liter gasoline engine. But so, at first glance, it seems that 130 horses will be enough for an undemanding driver. On the contrary, because we only drove the 180 hp versions on North African roads and off-road. Both gasoline and diesel have proven to be more than good, and the buyer will keep an eye on them. The price is also likely to be decisive, but it is not yet known for the Slovenian market. In France, the diesel version will be at least 3.000 euros more expensive, so consideration of the gasoline version is not superfluous. Of course, only if you don't really drive above average miles. Then the diesel version will still be the right choice. And also because the sound booth is well soundproofed, and the rumble of a diesel engine is not too disturbing. If you still don't like it, you'll have to wait another good year for the hybrid version to become available.
