Wash your car in winter
There are different theories about washing cars in winter. So wash or not wash?
In winter, road workers sprinkle sand, gravel and salt on the roads to make driving easier. These measures cause damage to the car body. Gravel can chip the paintwork, and due to the high humidity of the air, rust can form very quickly. In addition, salt greatly accelerates the rust process. So, when washing a car in winter, we will remove dirt, deposits of chemical compounds harmful to the metal sheet, as well as salt residues.
For washing to be effective, it should not be done in the cold. And it's not just about washing, for example, with a brush and water from a bucket, but also about not washing your car at a car wash. Even the best car dehumidifiers cannot remove the moisture inside the car. If you then leave the car in the cold, it is very likely that after a few hours of stopping the car there will be a problem with getting inside. Lock cylinders, seals or the entire lock mechanism may freeze. So it is better to wait for positive air temperature and then wash the car.
How about washing the engine bay? Rather, we should do these activities before and after winter. Cars produced today are stuffed with electronics that do not like water that accumulates during washing. Some manufacturers warn against this in their operating instructions and recommend washing the engine compartment only at authorized service stations. Otherwise, it may cause damage to the computer or electronics, and the vehicle owner may need expensive repairs.
Owners of brand new cars or those who have recently undergone body and paint repairs should not rush to wash them. They should not wash the vehicle for at least a month until the paint hardens. In the future, for several months, it is worth washing only with clean water, using a soft sponge or suede, avoiding visiting a car wash, especially an automatic one.
