In short: Peugeot 208 1.6 THP XY
Peugeot's marketers wanted to find the right label for something better, more noble, ideally equipped. This is 208 XY. They have built in almost everything that costs more and is designed to meet lofty goals. Some people can afford more even if they choose a small car.
But this is exactly the Peugeot 208 XY. In our tested model, the most powerful engine that can be obtained with this equipment, a 1,6-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 156 "horsepower", also worked under the hood. That it is a powerful car, but not as extreme as the 208 GTI, is also indicated by external equipment such as 17-inch rims or simply two side doors.
The equipment in the cabin seems to be more important. Some things that cannot be obtained in other vehicles, such as the Cielo panoramic glass roof combined with interior LED lighting. The owner will also love the infotainment system as standard, the front seats are in a sporty version, and the upholstery, which is a combination of fabric and Alcantara, has been prepared specifically for the XY. In fact, this XY has pretty much everything that other 208 versions have, but it needs to be bought. Some people will also love that the car has a perfect spare wheel!
The powerful engine and stiffer suspension go together very well, so there were no comments about the road position, although of course it's true that some people find the stiffer suspension on our bumpy roads rather annoying. But this is not the fault of the machine ...
Price? The official price list for 208 XY THP 156 is 18.640 XNUMX euros, which is the second lowest price among the XY line. All three versions with a turbodiesel with the same equipment, but with much fewer "horses" are more expensive.
Definitely an interesting approach to Peugeot's sales that refers to the current trend of declining interest in diesels!
