The most common mistakes made when driving on the highway

Have you just bought or received a voucher for a ride in one of our wonderful cars and are in doubt? Or maybe you are dreaming of a ride, but wondering if you can do it? Do you think you can master such a car without falling off the track and without exposing yourself to high costs and dangers? This article will surely dispel any of your concerns. I will present the most common mistakes that racers make on the track, and after you get to know them, you will have no choice but to avoid them during the implementation and enjoy the realization of your dreams and try new things!

Before you start driving

Before you hear the roar of the engine of your dream car, there are a few important things to remember that people often forget when they hit the track for the first time. Often, in our emotions, we do not think about things that have already become a standard habit in everyday life. Consequently, one of the most common mistakes made on the track, even before starting the engine, is not adjusting the height and distance of the seat from the steering wheel. Always before riding, make sure that the backrest supports our entire back and, sitting comfortably, we can easily reach the brake, gas, possible clutch, steering wheel and other important elements in the immediate vicinity of the driver's seat. A very important aspect is the seat height setting - if you are a short person this is especially important because it affects the visibility you will have while driving! During the implementation, you must first of all be comfortable, but you also need to take a position that allows you to “feel” in the car without any problems. Also, do not forget about a good grip on the steering wheel, it is recommended to place your hands in such a way as if you were holding your hands on the dial at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. Car, even the slightest unwanted movement can change the track.

Slowly and gradually

Give yourself time. Most of the participants in car events would like to rush as quickly as possible, completely disregarding the fact that they first got into this car and are completely unaware of its specifics. In this matter, you should trust an instructor who is an experienced rally driver and knows exactly how to drive such a car. Feel free to ask questions! The instructor is always ready to answer them, give good advice and help you get the most out of your trip. We also recommend getting a voucher for a trip with more than one lap. The first lap will allow you to calmly feel the car, its power and acceleration, and you can use each subsequent lap for a crazy ride without the steering wheel, which even pushes you into the seat!

Beware of acceleration

Many great everyday drivers who have no problem handling their car even at high speeds often make one colossal mistake on the track. He forgets how much horsepower is hidden under the hood of such a supercar or sports car. These values are much higher than in the cars we use every day. For example, the legendary Lamborghini Gallardo has as much as 570 hp, while the Ariel Atom (weighing only 500 kg!) Has as much as 300! Therefore, you should start slowly, feeling the dynamics and acceleration of the car. If you get behind the wheel of a powerful car and "step on it" as if you were in your personal car, you could lose control of the car and turn it on its axis, or worse, go off the track. You must be extremely careful in this matter and above all listen to the instructions and advice of the instructorsit next to us just for our safety.

Insidious turns

A maneuver that the first riders on the track usually don't do as well as they might seem is cornering. Seems absurd? 'Cause if somebody got a driver's license (remember that A Category B driver's license is absolutely necessary when driving as a racer.!), then he should have no problem with something as simple as changing direction. There is nothing worse! The first basic point is that you should always brake before turning, not just when you turn. Coming out of the turn, we can accelerate again. The speed at which we end a turn must always be greater than the speed at which we start!

Concentration and gaze focused on the road

This advice may sound cliché, but we can assure you that most riders who try their hand at the track for the first time forget about it. Namely, while driving, you need to fully focus only on driving, keep your eyes open and look straight ahead... Concentration while driving an event is extremely important. If you caught a cold a few days earlier, you are in a bad mood, something very stressful is happening in your life that bothers you, it is better to postpone the trip for another date. Even a moment of inattention while driving at such a high speed can end in tragedy. An important aspect is also looking directly at the road, we do not look at the instructor, we do not look at the stands and we absolutely do not look at the phone! It's better to turn off the sound on your smartphone and put it in a safe place so that its sounds are not distracting while driving.
