REMINDER: More than 20,000 Ford Ranger and Everest SUVs have a potential transmission issue

Ford Ranger is under new recall.

Ford Australia has recalled 20,968 units of the Ranger midsize passenger car and Everest large SUV due to a potential problem with their transmissions.

The recall includes 15,924 Ranger MY17-MY19 vehicles manufactured from 19 Dec 2017 to 15 Oct 2019 and 5044 Everest MY18-MY19 SUVs manufactured between 30 May 2018 to 16 Oct 2018. For reference , both models are mechanically linked.

In particular, their transmission fluid pump gears can fail while driving, which in turn can lead to a loss of hydraulic pressure and therefore engine power.

In this case, the risk of an accident and, consequently, injury to passengers and other road users increases.

Ford Australia will contact affected owners and instruct them to register their vehicle with their preferred dealership for a free inspection and repair.

Those seeking further information may call the Ford Australia Customer Service Center on 1800 503 672. Alternatively, they may contact their preferred dealership.

A full list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be found on the ACCC Product Safety Australia website of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
