The X-Class is in a new recall.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 5826 double cab X-Class vehicles due to a possible problem with autonomous emergency braking (AEB).

For MY18-MY19 double cab X-Class vehicles sold between February 1, 2018 and August 30, 2019, the recall was caused by their AEB system possibly erroneously detecting obstacles and therefore braking suddenly or unexpectedly.

If they occur, the risk of an accident and, consequently, serious injury or death to passengers and other users increases, especially if the vehicle comes to a complete stop.

Mercedes-Benz Australia is instructing affected owners to reserve their vehicle at their preferred dealership for a free software update to resolve the issue.

For more information, please call Mercedes-Benz Australia on 1300 659 307 during business hours. Alternatively, they can contact their preferred dealer.

A full list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be found on the ACCC Product Safety Australia website of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

As reported, production of the X-Class was completed at the end of May, and production of the Nissan Navara-based model was discontinued due to poor global sales.
