Recall: about 2000 Mitsubishi Outlander SUVs have faulty seat belts

The Outlander MY20 is in a new recall.

Mitsubishi Australia has recalled 1948 Outlander midsize SUVs due to seat belt problems.

Specifically, the recall applies to 20 model year Outlanders sold between July 31, 2019 and March 31, 2020.

The right seat belt anchor on the second row of these vehicles was not properly installed and therefore cannot properly restrain the passenger.

If this happens, the risk of serious injury or death from an accident will increase.

Mitsubishi Australia will contact affected owners by mail with instructions to have their vehicle booked at their preferred service center for a free inspection and repair.

Those seeking further information may call Mitsubishi Australia on 1800 931 811. Alternatively, they may contact their preferred dealership.

A full list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be found on the ACCC Product Safety Australia website of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
