Recall: Hundreds of double-cab Ram 1500s could catch fire

Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab EcoDiesel is in a new recall.

Ram Australia has recalled 438 examples of the 1500 double cab pickup due to a manufacturing defect that could cause them to catch fire.

For MY 14 vehicles MY 19-1500 sold between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2019 and equipped with a 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel turbodiesel engine, the recall is for an EGR cooler that may crack and therefore cause coolant leaking into the intake manifold.

If this happens, there is an increased risk of a vehicle fire that could cause injury to passengers and/or other road users, as well as property damage.

Ram Australia will contact affected owners by mail with instructions to visit their preferred dealership for a free repair.

Those seeking further information can call Ram Australia on 1800 649 607 or contact their preferred dealership.

A full list of affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be found on the ACCC Product Safety Australia website of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
