In fact, Honda stayed here during the crisis. However, the sales scheme changed: the representation became formal for a while, and dealers directly bought cars from factories. What now? The Russian office is back in effect: it determines the pricing policy and equipment, oversees the warranty, orders are again centralized, and deliveries are established from a European base, which halved the waiting time for cars.

The new CR-V is the first premiere after the time of troubles, the main tool for the company's survival and earnings in Russia. Therefore, at the presentation, they did not even mention that it was still possible to buy the previous CR-V from us. Of course it's cheaper. True, the 188-horsepower 2.4 DI DOHC gasoline engine is no longer offered. Petrol 150-horsepower 2.0 DOHC versions with a 5-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are available at prices starting at $ 21, and they are produced in England.

The fresh generation of CR-V comes to us from the USA. In the American market, the main engine is a supercharged petrol 1,5 (190 hp), the European one will probably have a diesel engine, and we are supposed to have the mentioned 2,0 (the same 150 hp) and 2,4 (now 186 horsepower). ). Euro-5 standards, 92nd gasoline, improved efficiency. No alternative variator and four-wheel drive, four levels of equipment. Prices for the 2,0-liter variants start at $ 23, while the more powerful ones start at $ 200.

The basic CR-V 2,0 l Elegance did not skimp on equipment: LED daytime running lights, light sensor, alloy 18-inch wheels, heated seats, mirrors and wiper rest zones, power windows with automatic mode, electronic "handbrake", climate control , cruise control, Bluetooth, USB and AUX slots, rear parking sensors and eight airbags.

The volume for cargo is from 522 liters, on the sidewalls of the trunk there are handles for transforming the rear back into a flat platform. The base has increased by 30 mm and the width by 35 mm. I swing the back door open to an angle of almost 90 degrees. Seats in the second row - with a decent margin. The row is molded for two, a wide armrest with cup holders is prepared. The rear windows are tinted, the heating of the cushions are three-stage, there are two USB slots, and upon leaving you will appreciate the protection of the sills and arches from dirt. We have eliminated the third row, which is possible for the CR-V, in order to avoid an overlap with the Pilot model.

For the new design of the driver's seat, the designers are also praised. Is that the "tablet" of the central touch-screen looks like it is glued to the panel. The menu is multi-layered, but not well thought out and slows down, again resembling something Taiwanese. Digital devices are perceived better, and the retractable projection screen is convenient.

Lots of other pleasant moments. The volume control on the steering wheel can be pressed or scrolled. A panoramic mirror for watching children is hidden in the case of the eyeglass case. The main plus for the driver is a tight seat with a friendly shape. The mirrors are large, the view is hassle-free, and the rear camera gives movable graphic prompts. Leaving the parking lot, immediately noting that the steering wheel was "shortened". In fact, from lock to lock, there are now two and a half turns.

The engine recoil is not overwhelming, but the CR-V seems energetic thanks to the cool CVT that mimics seven ranges and quickly adjusts to situations. The reaction to the paddle shifters is quick, no matter how many "false steps" you click off. And only when accelerating at speeds over 100 km / h does the variator begin to hang characteristically on one note. And after 3000 rpm, the voice of the motor appears, and in general, the sound insulation could be better. The average consumption of 92 gasoline by the onboard computer was 8,5 - 9,5 liters per 100 kilometers.

Improved settings of the EUR with a motor on the rail provide decent information content, the lightweight steering wheel feels accurate. Reliable directional stability, CR-V is not embarrassed by either rutting or scattering of irregularities. The suspension has been modified: stiffer springs with an increased coil diameter, different characteristics of the shock absorbers and the layout of the rear multi-link. The result is low roll and discreet sway. We also mention the increased rigidity of the body, in the design of which high-strength steel was added.

I have not been in these parts for a long time and forgot that the asphalt can easily and without warning break off with a step to the ground. Brake! The pedal pliantly goes down, the crossover bites, but reluctantly slows down. ABS, are you sleeping? The machine thumps off the step, but does without breakdown. Plus for energy intensity.

If you believe her, already at the start there is a preload, and the CR-V becomes mono-drive from time to time. Of course, you shouldn't count on off-road exploits. Electronics can help when hanging, but the clutch cannot be blocked, and at the slightest hint of overheating, it turns off. And the protection of the motor does not inspire confidence. But the ground clearance of the novelty was increased to 208 millimeters.

All in all, the Honda CR-V is an attractive car, but it would bring down prices. In the future, the Russian CR-V may have lane tracking systems, adaptive cruise control and an automatic braking function in front of an obstacle. If so, top-end versions will be even more expensive. Alas, there are no prospects for a Russian assembly.
