Moreover, the basic tests for frontal impact at a speed of 40 miles per hour (64 km / h), for side impact, as well as for the strength of head restraints and seat slide stoppers, were all passed by all participants as "good" - the IIHS does not give an "excellent" rating as a matter of principle . Problems were found only in additional categories of tests.

The Americans did not like the braking performance from a speed of 12 miles per hour (19 km / h) and the reaction of the forward collision warning system. On the scale developed by the institute for this discipline, the QX70 scored only 2 out of a possible 6 points. The performance of the headlights was rated "acceptable", and the ease of attaching child seats was only "marginal".

We skip the Lincoln MKC, which occupies the penultimate place in the rating, but is absent on the Russian market, and go straight to the third model from the end. The Bavarian car, according to IIHS experts, earned 6 out of 6 possible points in braking to avoid a head-on collision. However, the efficiency of the front lighting fixtures and child seat fasteners were awarded only the level of "acceptable" and "marginal" - like the Infiniti QX70.

Another big crossover of the “premium” Japanese brand fell behind. It survived crash tests with almost the same losses as the QX70. This refers to two points for braking performance and the operation of the collision warning system, as well as "marginal" headlights. But for the convenience of using child seat mounts, the car received only “bad”.

Here we again have to skip the next resident of the American market Lincoln MKT and immediately go to the actual sixth place from the end. It is occupied by the BMW X3, the results of which differ from those demonstrated by the "X-Fifth" only in the "marginal" rating for the work of the headlights. But he passed the test with brilliance, to which his older brother was not subjected at all - the test of the strength of the roof. It can be objected that the unequal conditions in which the rivals were initially placed is unfair. I agree, but we do not set the rules, but the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, on whose conscience lies the loss of two Japanese and two Bavarians.
