Don't like your new 2022 Polestar 2? Then return the money! Electric car competitor Tesla launches money-back guarantee in Australia

Polestar has officially launched the four-door Sedan 2 in Australia.

Young electric car brand Polestar says if you don't like the new Polestar 2, you can simply return it for a refund.

Competitor Tesla has launched a full money-back guarantee for private buyers of its Polestar 2 electric sedan in Australia.

If the owner is not completely satisfied with their Polestar, they can return it within seven days of delivery, provided it has not been driven more than 500 kilometers.

The announcement coincides with the official launch of the Polestar in Australia, with deliveries expected to begin in March.

Polestar, which is part of China's Geely group along with sister brand Volvo, has no traditional dealerships, relying instead on online sales and so-called Polestar "spaces" where potential buyers can experience the car.

The brand has yet to open a location in Australia, but it recently did test drives in Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Brisbane, which resulted in 300 bookings in just 48 hours.

There are currently 180 vehicles in Australia waiting to be delivered to customers.

The Polestar 2 is available in three classes, starting at $59,900 pre-travel for the standard single-engine lineup. The mid-range single-engine Long Range is $64,900, while the twin-engined flagship Long Range is $69,900.

Polestar Australia managing director Samantha Johnson said the cashback policy will make it easier for people to switch to electric vehicles.

“A new car is often a person's second-biggest purchase after a home, so it's important to not only be aware of this, but to support our vehicles – and our customers – with a peace of mind guarantee. intelligence and confidence in a direct-to-consumer model,” she said.

“We are seeing Australians increasingly willing to switch to electric vehicles and this warranty is designed to make that transition as easy as possible for Polestar 2 customers.”

The Polestar 2 is the brand's first model, but the next cab in the rankings is expected to be the Polestar 3 SUV, followed by a four-door coupe-style liftback called the Polestar 5.
