Not all help is suitable for winter

Not all help is suitable for winter Almost every driver has heard of car assistance. Most drivers have them. In the near future - in winter and autumn - such assistance on the road can be very useful. But be careful, not all help is suitable for winter!

Not all help is suitable for winterThe most common problems that drivers face in winter are fuel or oil freezing, collisions and accidents due to poor visibility and slippery surfaces, battery failure, uneven engine operation, tire damage after hitting a pothole, or inability to reach the car after an accident. . the castle is frozen. In all these cases, help will easily help, provided that we have them well selected for the winter.

 - Help is somewhat similar to shoes - in winter you can walk in almost everyone, but in order to feel comfortable and safe, they must be well matched at different times of the year. The assistant provides almost 100% of new cars, so owners of cars under the manufacturer's warranty are automatically provided with technical assistance insurance for the period specified at the time of purchase. Also, most insurance companies add free assistance, both when buying OSAGO and the OS + AC package. Last year, more than 10 million car assistance policies were sold in Poland through various distribution channels. says Piotr Ruszowski, Sales and Marketing Director at Mondial Assistance.

– However, it should be remembered that very often free assistance is a mini or basic version that covers the basic, very narrow scope of protection, usually insufficient in winter. – adds Petr Rushovsky.

What should winter assistance include, what should be avoided?

A comfortable assistant that will perform its task in the winter should have several important elements. It's worth checking it out before it turns white on the roads. However, some restrictions should be avoided.

Support in the event of an accident and breakdown

It is worth avoiding the clause that the emergency service is excluded from assistance (a tow truck with a mechanic will come only in the event of an accident or collision). After all, these are very common in winter, because drivers do not always cope with difficult conditions.

Help at home and on the road.

There are provisions on the so-called minimum distance from the place of residence at which the assistance service can be provided. In winter, it should be avoided, since the car usually does not start under the house, after a frosty night. Another type of restriction is assistance at a distance of at least x kilometers from the place of residence - this decision makes sense if we know that we will not go far by car in winter.

Limitation of the sum insured and the amount of assistance.

It happens that the policy lures on a very wide scale, but you should check the amount up to which the insurer will be able to offer you assistance and how many times a year we can use it. If we don't handle winter conditions well, or if the frost doesn't like our car, help may be needed often. In this situation, limits can limit the room for maneuver.

What to look out for in the case of motor assistance - the most common exceptions:

  •  no help in case of breakdown (only accident) or vice versa,
  •  protection only within a certain number of kilometers from the place of residence,
  •  lack of protection within a certain number of kilometers from the place of residence, for example, an exception in the event of a breakdown near the house,
  •  refueling with the wrong fuel,
  •  key lock,
  •  battery defect (in situations where it is discharged as a result of the buyer's carelessness).
