Nexeon found a solution to reduce the cost of lithium-ion batteries

Nexeon Ltd, based in Abingdon, England, may have found a solution to many of the controversies surrounding the reliability, autonomy and longevity of lithium-ion batteries.

The EV is ready to go, but what is really delaying the introduction of this mode of transport are the batteries, whether in terms of design, materials used and production cost, batteries. Lithium-ion batteries do not provide relative efficiency for daily use.

In this context, Nexon proposes to make the silicon anode technology developed by Imperial College London available under license to developers and manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries. The principle is simple, replace conventional (carbon) anodes with silicon (chips).

This will increase the electrical density of the battery, making it smaller and longer between each recharge.

Hopefully this works and finally allows electric vehicles to take off.
