Nissan Almera Sedan 1.5 Comfort Plus

A first glance at the paperwork and the car's exterior make sure Nissan has achieved its goal. Then decide to do a little research on this. First, you open the boot lid and find that the workmanship is average, as is the quality of the materials chosen.

There are many sharp edges on the inside of the bonnet as the bonnet is not lined at all, which is almost a requirement today (in the case of a station wagon, the bonnet is lined). The lid mechanism (or guides) penetrating deep into the trunk also contributes to the worst experience. Flexibility on paper also promises a lot, but the rear seatback only folds into three sections. The rest of the differences between the sedan and the station wagon are practically negligible.

Equality also includes a 1-liter unit, which is already known in exactly the same form for three- and five-door versions. 5 kilowatts (66 hp) of maximum power and 90 Newton meters of maximum torque theoretically do not promise breakthrough performance, but the engine on the road surprises. It responds well to accelerator "stimulus" and its flexibility is quite satisfactory unless the car is loaded with a bit more luggage and passengers or climbs a big grade. In all cases, the engine requires an acceptable amount of fuel, which in general (still depending on driving style and other requirements of the driver, of course) is less than ten liters, and for good handling, the engine will reward you with about eight liters. liters of fuel per hundred kilometers.

The chassis is solid and nothing comfortable, but much nicer when cornering. In such cases, you will appreciate the slight tilt of the body as well as the good handling and positioning. In critical situations, the extended Almera will reliably stop the reliable brakes that are still not supported by the ABS in the Comfort plus package.

Nissan wanted to replace the relatively good maneuverability of the Almera sedan in length (241 millimeter increments) and the liter trunk (plus 105 liters) with the Almera Sedan, but it's not as simple as it might seem at first glance.

It's true that the extra inches of the extended version are sometimes useful, but for the most part, flexibility comes first. It follows that a shorter 3- or 5-door Almera is a better buy. However, for those who value centimeters more, there is nothing left but to close one eye with the flexibility and uneven bottom of the trunk and opt for the Almera Sedan.

evaluation

  • Nissan wants to show with its Almera sedan that a car with a large trunk can be more useful than a sedan. But liters are not everything. Also important is such a trifle as flexibility. Nissan still has a long way to go.
