Nissan Leaf: I-KEY SYSTEM FAILURE - what does it mean? [EXPLANATION]

Occasionally the Nissan Leaf displays an error message “I-Key System Error”. What does this mean and how to solve the problem? The solution is simple: just replace the battery in the remote control.

The above error means the battery in the car key needs to be replaced because its voltage is too low for it to contact the car properly.

> Electric vehicles are NO OBLIGATORY from speed cameras - but please do not test 🙂

If the key battery was recently replaced, it is worth trying to get out of the car, lock it with the key, open it with the key and get into the car - the error should disappear. If this does not help, the next step is to disconnect the battery for a while (to restart the computer) and check the voltage on the contacts, or charge the battery.
