Nissan NV200 Electric: trials began

Soon after the thermal minivan Nissan NV200 has been selected as the future Yellow Taxi of New York (see image below), the Japanese firm is already embarking on a real-world test phase an electric model called e-NV200 in Japan and other European countries.

Electric Nissan e-NV200: first full-scale tests in Japan

The concept of an all-electric minivan is still largely unknown in the international automotive market. On July 4, Nissan announced that it will begin testing the NV200 electric model in Japan in the coming weeks. This first stage of testing in the land of the rising sun will last about 2 months.

Even if nothing has yet been filtered for the performance of this electric minivan, the Japanese firm nevertheless reported that the e-NV200 test vehicles were provided by Japan Post Service Co Ltd in Yokohama. These vehicles will then be assigned to perform official tasks such as collecting and delivering parcels in a Japanese city.

Testing for the Nissan e-NV200 in Europe is still planned.

After the first 2 months of testing in Yokohama, the e-NV200 will also be shipped to other taxi companies or delivery services in Japan. This will be followed by tests of the electric NV200 in several European countries.

The success of these many tests hinges on the early release of this electric utility in the world's largest automotive markets, especially in North America and Europe. Nissan also wants to release this electric version no later than 2017.
