Niu U-Pro: mini electric scooter sold in France

Contrary to what the name suggests, the Niu U-Pro electric scooter is primarily aimed at urban customers looking for a simple and practical solution for small daily commutes.

The Niu U-Pro, unveiled at the end of 2017 at the EICMA in Milan, is the latest addition to the Chinese manufacturer's range. The model, which hit dealerships this week, describes itself as a connected electric scooter. Mainly designed for short city trips, it is equipped with a 1200W electric motor supplied by German supplier Bosch and a lithium-ion battery supplied by Japanese company Panasonic.

The removable battery, which can be easily recharged in 8 hours at home or at work, weighs only 5.2 kg. The reverse side of the coin: its autonomy is much less than that of other models in the line. The battery has a small capacity (48 V - 21 Ah) and provides a mileage of only 35 kilometers on a single charge, which is half that of other models of this brand.

Connected, but also connected ... Inspired by the M Series, the U-Pro can be connected to an app that allows you to monitor your vehicle in real time. The user's smartphone also serves as the key to unlock the car.

Added to this is a safety device that uses a principle already applied to self-service scooters. Thus, if the machine is moved without first unlocking, the rear wheel is locked, an alarm is triggered and a problem message is sent to the owner.
