The new Kia Optima will receive a dual transmission

For the first time, the sedan will have a four-wheel drive modification

For the first time in its history, the Kia Optima sedan will receive a modification with all-wheel drive. These data are contained in a document from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where the new generation of the model will be renamed K5 - as in the domestic market in South Korea. This was reported by The Korean Car Blog.

Modification of the T-GDi AWD for the North American market will be equipped with a 1,6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with a capacity of 180 hp, which will work together with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

In addition, the new Kia Optima will have a “hot” version of the GT with a 2,5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 290 hp. In the US, sales of the sedan should begin before the end of this year.

Kia Optima for South Korea was introduced in late fall 2019. The sedan made its debut in a new design line, followed by the development of future models of the South Korean brand. A distinctive feature of the car is the improved Tiger Smile radiator grill with a new shape, large side air intakes, and taillights in combination with a brake light strip.

A digital dashboard appears in the cabin, and the traditional gear lever is replaced by a rotating washer. Vehicle systems can be controlled using the touch screen or voice commands.

The fourth generation Kia Optima is currently on sale. The sedan is available with naturally aspirated engines with a displacement of 2,0 and 2,4 liters and a capacity of 150 and 188 hp. respectively, as well as with a two-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 245 hp
