New equipment and features in the 911 Carrera series

Now for all 911 Carrera S and 4S models, a seven-speed manual gearbox can be ordered as an alternative to the standard eight-speed PDK gearbox at no extra cost in European and related markets. The manual transmission is combined with the Sport Chrono package and, therefore, will be liked primarily by sports drivers who love more than shifting gears. As part of the model year change, a number of new equipment options for the 911 Carrera series will now be offered that were not previously available for a sports car. These include the Porsche InnoDrive, already familiar from the Panamera and Cayenne, as well as the new Smartlift for the front axle.

For purists: a seven-speed manual transmission with Sport Chrono package

A seven-speed manual gearbox for the 911 Carrera S and 4S is always available in combination with the Sport Chrono package. Also included is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with variable torque distribution through controlled braking of the rear wheels and mechanical locking of the rear differential with asymmetric locking. This general setting will appeal primarily to drivers with sporting ambitions, who will also appreciate the new tire temperature indicator. This optional feature in the Sport Chrono package was introduced with the 911 Turbo S. Tire temperature indicator combined with a tire pressure indicator. At low tire temperatures, blue bars warn of reduced traction. When the tires warm up, the color of the indicator changes to blue and white, and then turns white after reaching the operating temperature and maximum grip. The system is deactivated and the rods are hidden when installing winter tires.

The 911 Carrera S with a manual gearbox accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in 4,2 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 308 km / h. The weight of the DIN 911 Carrera S Coupé with a manual transmission is 1480 kg, which is 45 kg less than in the PDK version.

For the first time at the 911 Carrera: Porsche InnoDrive and Smartlift

The new model year includes the inclusion of the Porsche InnoDrive in the list of options for 911. In the PDK versions, the help system extends the functions of the adaptive cruise control system, predicting and optimizing the speed of up to three kilometers ahead. Using navigation data, he calculates the optimal acceleration and deceleration values for the next three kilometers and activates them through the engine, PDK and brake system. The electronic pilot automatically takes into account angles and slopes, as well as speed limits, if necessary. The driver is able to individually determine the maximum speed at any time. The system detects the current traffic situation with the help of radars and video sensors and adapts the controls accordingly. The system even recognizes carousels. Like regular adaptive cruise control, InnoDrive also constantly adjusts the distance to the cars in front.

The new optional Smartlift feature for all 911 versions automatically raises the front when the vehicle is moving regularly. With an electro-hydraulic front axle system, the clearance of the front apron can be increased by about 40 millimeters. The system saves the GPS coordinates of the current position by pressing a button. If the driver again approaches this position in both directions, the front of the car will rise automatically.

Leather package 930 in the style of the first 911 Turbo

The 930 leather package introduced by the 911 Turbo S is now available as an option for the 911 Carrera models. This triggered the appearance of the first Porsche 911 Turbo (type 930) and was characterized by a coordinated interaction of colors, materials and individual enhancements. The equipment includes quilted front and rear seat panels, quilted door panels and other leather upholstery from the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur portfolio.

Other new equipment options

New lightweight and soundproof glass is now also available for the 911 Series. The weight advantage over standard glazing is more than four kilograms. The improvement in interior acoustics achieved by reducing rolling noise and wind noise is an added benefit. This is a slightly laminated safety glass used in the windshield, rear window and all door windows. Ambient Light Design includes interior lighting that can be customized in seven colors. A touch of color is also added with a new exterior paint coating in a special Python Green color.
