New crossovers 2016: photos and prices in Russia

2016 promises to be rich in innovations. Automakers have long realized that crossovers are hugely popular, so they continue to update existing models, as well as design new ones. Many of them were presented in the form of concepts back in 2014-2015 at various auto shows. And in the coming year, they will be available at dealerships in the US and Europe, as well as in Russia.

Another trend is also interesting - crossovers appeared in the model lines of manufacturers that never produced them.

First of all, we are talking about two models that we have already touched on in passing on Vodi.su:

• Bentley Bentayga is a luxury SUV in the Bentley line, pre-orders for it are already accepted in Moscow;
• F-Pace - Jaguar is also interested in crossovers and has prepared its own development in this regard.

Skoda snowman

Back in 2014-15, there was talk of a new crossover from Skoda, which would be larger in size than its "brother" Skoda Yeti. The new SUV borrowed the platform from the Volkswagen Tiguan. The developers themselves claim that it will combine all the best qualities of Octavia, Superb, Yeti and Skoda Rapid.

It will be a great family car for long trips, designed for 5 or 7 seats. The length of the body will be 4,6 meters.

Specifications will also be good.

3 petrol engines will be available:

• 1.4-liter 150 hp;
• 2 two-liter engines for 180 and 220 horses.

There are also two two-liter diesel engines capable of squeezing out 150 and 184 hp.

The car will come in both front- and all-wheel drive versions. Of the additional options, in addition to the standard driver assistance systems, there will be:

• start-stop system;
• brake energy recovery;
• the ability to turn off working cylinders to save fuel when driving around the city, in traffic jams.

According to forecasts, the car will appear on sale in 2016. The price for it will start from 23 thousand euros for the basic version. In Russia, 5-seater variants will be offered, although it is possible that 7-seater versions can also be ordered.

The second generation of the premium 7-seater crossover appeared in Russia back in 2015. The appearance has changed markedly, but in general, Audi has not deviated from the general line: the car turned out to be modest in German, although 19-inch wheels, an enlarged radiator grille, elegant headlights, and smooth body lines gave the car a more pronounced sporty essence.

The prices, of course, are not small - for the basic version you need to pay from 4 million rubles, but the technical characteristics are worth it:

• TFSI gasoline engines with a capacity of 333 horsepower;
• diesel TDI capable of squeezing out 249 hp;
• proprietary preselection box (dual clutch) Tiptronic;
• all-wheel drive Quattro.

The average fuel consumption for gasoline engines is 6,8 liters, for diesel engines - 5,7.

Several kits are available:

• Standard - 3.6 million;
• Comfort - from 4 million;
• Sports - from 4.2;
• Business - from 4.4 million rubles.

However, Audi did not linger on this development and in 2016 introduced a hybrid version - the Audi Q7 E-Tron Quattro. In it, in addition to a three-liter turbodiesel with 300 hp. an electric motor with a capacity of 78 horses will be installed. True, on only one electric motor it will be possible to drive only about 60 km.

If you use both power units, then a full battery charge and a full tank will last for 1400 kilometers.

The price of the hybrid version will be from 80 thousand euros in Europe.

Another development from the German concern is also interesting - Audi SQ5 TDI Plus. This is an all-wheel drive version of the K1 crossover, which was introduced in the US with a three-liter turbo gasoline engine. However, in 2016, the European equipment was released with a 16-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a capacity of 340 hp.

The diesel version will be a great addition to Audi's S-line of "charged" crossovers. Suffice it to say that the SQ5 outperforms the facelifted Audi R8 in terms of torque. The maximum speed is limited by a chip at around 250 km / h. The average consumption is in the range of 6,7-7 liters of diesel per 100 km.

Mazda CX-9

In the summer of 2015, the updated Mazda CX-9 of the second generation was introduced. The car is not yet for sale in Russia, it is planned that sales will start in the spring of 2016. The price can only be called presumably - 1,5-2 million rubles.

Specifications make this crossover not just another urban SUV, but quite a powerful car that will have to feel confident on the roads:

• 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel with 250 hp;
• all-wheel drive system;
• 6-band automatic;
• additional options for driver assistance.

Well, the appearance is worthy of special attention, especially the branded radiator grille and narrow headlights, giving the car an aggressive predatory look. The interior in the top versions is trimmed with brown Nappa leather. There will also be a more affordable black and metal finish.

Mercedes GLC

The second generation of the crossover has been developed in secret since the end of 2014, the first photos from the landfills were leaked to the network in March-April 2015. Today, the updated SUV is available for sale in the official showrooms of Moscow.

Compared to the previous generation Mercedes GLK, the GLC is larger in size. Although, it must be said that with such dimensions, not the most powerful engines are on the car:

• gasoline - 125, 150 and 155 hp;
• diesel - 125, 150, 155 hp

On the other hand, this model was developed as an urban SUV, which is also suitable for long trips.

In it you will find:

• automatic transmissions;
• a lot of additional functions (Start-Stop, Eco-Start, ABS, EBD, dead zone control, cruise control);
• everything for comfort (adaptive cruise control, heated seats with a massage function, a huge multimedia panel, a good audio system, and so on);
• low fuel consumption - 6,5-7,1 (gasoline), 5-5,5 (diesel) in the combined cycle.

The cost at the present time varies depending on the configuration, ranging from 2,5 to 3 million rubles.

In the American and Asian markets, the Japanese have released an updated crossover QX50, formerly known as the EX.

In Russia, this model is also available with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine at a price of 2 million rubles.

The updated version for the US and China received a 3.7-liter engine with 325 hp, working in conjunction with a 7-band automatic. Consumption, however, in the urban cycle is about 14 liters of gasoline.

Despite the fact that the car is positioned as a sports car, great attention is paid to comfort. In particular, an adaptive suspension is installed, which smooths out all the bumps as much as possible.

Other novelties

It is clear that we stopped only at the most iconic models, although many manufacturers have made changes to their models for the new year.

It is enough to give a small list of restyled models:

• GMC Terrain Denali - a popular American SUV has increased in size, changes in appearance;
• Toyota RAV4 - this crossover has a significantly changed front end, an additional SE package with a sports suspension will appear;
• Land Rover Discovery - the number of additional options has been significantly increased;
• Chevrolet-Niva 2016 - it is planned to expand the range of engines, significant changes in the exterior.

As you can see, despite the crisis, the automotive industry is actively developing.
