The new Ducati V4 suddenly appeared on the market. Until now, the Italian manufacturer's superbike was powered by a V2 model, now it produces lightning-fast power from a fork-four! Check out what you need to know about it.

Ducati V4 Engine Features

There is nothing extraordinary about a four-cylinder engine, unless you look closely and compare it with others. This design uses V-shaped cylinders hidden under two heads. Each cylinder has 4 valves controlled by a desmodromic system. The Ducati Panigale V4 is evolving almost every year, especially in the 2022 version. The specs don't reflect the tremendous amount of work that the engineers and test riders have done to give this machine amazing performance. And it doesn't just come from the bike's dynamically beating heart.

Specifications of the Ducati Panigale V4 engine

The technical parameters of the engine model are impressive. He is 1103 cm³ displacement, has a power of 215,5 hp. and a torque of 123,6 Nm. Maximum power is reached at 13 rpm and torque at 000 rpm 9500. Compared to the 2018 year unit, power has increased by as much as 1,5 hp. and decreased torque, but now it is available a little earlier. In addition, the Panigale V4 2022 can be retrofitted with an exhaust not homologated for street use. This variant provides an additional 12,5 hp.

Panigale V4 2022 - can something perfect be changed?

Ducati Corse proves that it is! The racing team once again won the MotoGP Constructors' Championship. And it is clear that those who are not progressing are actually regressing. The stubborn desire to create a brilliant car was manifested in the yearly changes to the Panigale model. Since Year 4, the 2018 Ducati V has had several options. Each one added a bit more in terms of electronics, aerodynamics and styling, which of course led to rider interest as well as a better track experience. It is worth at least taking a moment to look at these models.

Changes in the design of the superbike are visible almost to the naked eye. However, it's worth taking a look at the ones hidden under the shrouds and shrouds of the drive unit. This, of course, works in the V-four system, whose ignition control method is based on the Twin Pulse system. The key to exploiting the potential of the engine was to reduce the weight of the components as much as possible. For example, casings and engine casings were mostly made from magnesium castings. As a result, additional kilograms of weight have been saved, and the motorcycle provides exceptional maneuverability when cornering at high speed. However, the Ducati V4 S version is only the beginning of the changes.

Ducati Panigale V4 R with WSBK homologation

World Superbike requires designers to take an even more serious approach to optimizing their designs. An example is the Ducati Panigale V4 R model, whose power unit has been reduced to 998 cm³. Despite the loss of more than 100 cm³, the engine power is higher than the original and is 221 hp. However, the torque has been reduced to 112 Nm. The engineers also redesigned the suspension and added a spoiler. Thanks to this, the Ducati R version has become an absolutely top-end design, effectively squeezing the maximum out of the driver's skills.

Model Ducati Panigale V4 SP 2021

What can you expect from a bike that should be the bridge between the S and R versions? Panigale SP introduces a compromise, which, however, is not mandatory, but optional. It manifests itself in two Race modes - A and B. The first is the absolute top when it comes to transferring engine power to the rear axle. The second option, i.e. B, provides a slight reduction in power in the first three gear ratios. Thanks to this, a superbike with a capacity of 214 hp. in the SP version, less experienced drivers can tame (if they even dare to ride this beast). The 2021 Panigale SP draws attention primarily with its aggressive and all-new design.

Changes, changes and more changes - Panigale V4 2022

Has anyone doubted in which direction the Panigale V4 is heading? If someone has fooled himself that this is a superbike with a track twist, then he is mistaken. The Ducati V4 is built ONLY for the track, and that's where it feels best. This is especially evident after the improvements made to the latest version of the two-wheeled vehicle. Now it's even more aggressive, more powerful and provides better gear tuning for track use. Therefore, we will now take a very close look at the changes that have taken place in the latest market model.

More electronics or less electronics?

The new Panigale from the Italian manufacturer takes a different approach to driving modes. Currently, the engine can operate in 3 modes:

  • full - engine power remained in the hands (actually in the right hand) of the driver. The electronic limiter only works in 1st gear, any other gives access to all the horsepower;
  • high or medium - Dedicated throttle control in line with the Ride by Wire idea. Thanks to this, it adapts perfectly to the needs of the rider;
  • low - another novelty, i.e. unit power reduction to 150 hp

Completely new gearbox

This is where Ducati has probably introduced the world to the most design changes. The entire gearbox has been completely redesigned and its gear ratios have been changed from a few to over a dozen percent compared to its predecessor. These values ​​are variable depending on the selected gear. 1st and 2nd gears were the most modified, as they were widened by 11,6% and 5,6% respectively. Why did Ducati decide to make such important changes to the design and tuning of the gearbox? It's simple - the engine should work better on the track.

Who is the Ducati V4 Panigale for? Prices and summary

The recipient group is definitely very narrow, but not so narrow that the Ducati V4 Panigale has the status of a ghost superbike. Basic versions can be purchased from 100 euros, especially when it comes to copies of the start of production with a V00 engine. The newer, the more expensive, of course. However, the top versions usually keep around 4 euros. Definitely!
