Lexus introduces the latest version of the LX. The largest and most luxurious SUV of the Japanese brand has changed significantly. It has a new platform, a more powerful engine, a redesigned interior and a host of new additions to the equipment list. However, one thing has not changed - it is still a real SUV on a solid frame.

The sharp silhouette of the new Lexus LX looks familiar. Externally, the car in many ways resembles its predecessor. However, the changes are the most noticeable. Draw attention to the slender headlights with high-mounted daytime running lights, a more powerful grille (now without a chrome frame) and an LED strip connecting the taillights.

Also new is the F Sport version, which features a black-trimmed front grille with a braided pattern that replaces the horizontal fins known from other versions. Lexus LX 600 will be able to leave the showroom on wheels with 22-inch wheels. In the current Lexus offer, we will not find larger ones.

The fourth-generation LX inherited the 2,85m wheelbase from its predecessor, but is based on the all-new GA-F platform. We are talking about a real SUV, so it is invariably a frame-based design. This one is 20% stiffer. At the same time, the engineers managed to reduce the weight of the structure by an impressive 200 kg. And that is not all. The engine is located 70mm closer to the rear and 28mm lower for a lower center of gravity and better weight distribution. The effect of such measures is obvious - more reliable handling and greater dynamics thanks to a completely new engine.

The Lexus LX 600 is powered by a 6-litre V3,5 twin-turbocharged petrol engine with direct injection delivering a maximum output of 415 hp. and 650 Nm. In comparison, the out-of-market LX 570 delivers less than 390 hp to the driver. and less than 550 Nm. The new Lexus LX has also received a 10-speed automatic transmission, which should guarantee better performance and more economical driving at higher speeds.

Significant changes will also affect the interior of the flagship Lexus SUV. This is the second Lexus after the NX to have an interior designed in accordance with Tazun's new concept, which emphasizes ergonomics. There are two touchscreens in the center - one 12,3 ″ at the top and 7 ″ at the bottom. The driver also looks at the digital watch.

The top screen displays satellite navigation readings, the audio control panel or the image from the cameras around the car. The lower one allows you to control heating, off-road assistance systems and other equipment. Multimedia is based on the new operating system. Of course, there was a voice assistant and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is worth noting that Lexus did not completely abandon the physical buttons, which will certainly please many drivers.

Much more in the interior. The LX 600 is the first Lexus to feature a fingerprint unlock system. The fingerprint scanner is built into the engine start button.

This solution, of course, reduces the risk of car theft. The luxury SUV also gets an audio system from Mark Levinson. In the richest configuration, as many as 25 speakers play in the cabin. In no other Lexus, we will not find so much.

The Lexus LX 600 makes the biggest impression in a completely new version, which the Japanese call Executive, and the Americans - Ultra Luxury. The SUV in this configuration is equipped with four large independent seats. The rear tilt can be adjusted up to 48 degrees. They are separated by a spacious armrest with a screen that controls the most important pieces of equipment. Rear passengers can take advantage of reading lights and additional ceiling vents. The person sitting behind the front passenger can also use the fold-out footrest.

Security system package

The new LX is also equipped with a wide range of advanced active safety systems, collectively known as the Lexus Safety System+. Improved camera and radar make the Pre-Collision System more effective at detecting other road users and obstacles, and help prevent collisions when turning at intersections. The lane keeping system works more smoothly thanks to the help of artificial intelligence. Advanced active cruise control adjusts the speed to the shape of the corners. The car is also available with the more accurate BladeScan AHS adaptive high beam system.
