New Porsche Macan - last breath

A few weeks ago, the news from Zuffenhausen hit everyone like a bolt from the blue that the next Porsche Macan would be an all-electric car. Then I thought - how? The current best-selling Porsche won't have a conventional engine? After all, this is absurd, because almost no one offers electric SUVs. Well, maybe except for Jaguar, which has the E-Pace, and Audi, because every once in a while I pass e-tron billboards. Of course, there's also Tesla, with the new Model Y. So maybe advertising an electric compact SUV isn't crazy, it's falling behind other manufacturers?

But let's focus on the release versions, because not so long ago Porsche Macan with an internal combustion engine, as we have known until now, has undergone a subtle anti-aging treatment. This is such an exaggerated interpretation, because the Macan still looked completely fresh and attractive. However, these few changes mean that his popularity will not decrease over the years, and maybe even increase, because he is the last in the genre?

The new Makan is a powdered nose, i.e. barely noticeable changes

I am looking for the first time new Macan, I thought: something has changed, but really what? I'll start with the easiest to spot. At the rear, a light strip appeared on the tailgate that connects the previously single taillights. This detail unites the image Makana against the backdrop of the entire updated Porsche lineup (except for the 718). The headlights have also been redesigned to be slimmer and standard lighting uses LED technology.

The front of the car has become visually wider, side lights, they are also turn signals, are located lower on the ribs of the side air intakes. Daytime running lights and brake lights have four separate LEDs. As for the appearance, and at the same time driving performance, it is the ability to order Makana wheels on rims of 20 inches or even 21 inches. Interestingly, sets of asymmetric tires (wider on the rear axle) have also been introduced in line with the better handling that is actually felt.

We must not forget about the new body colors for compact vans. suv-porsche - muted silver Dolomite Silver Metallic, pearl gray matte, that is, the famous Crayon, known from 911 or Panamera, extravagant bright green Mamba Green Metallic and my absolute favorite in sports 911 and 718, that is, pearl matte Miami Blue.

interior new Porsche Macan he hasn't changed as much as I expected. The clock remains analog, with a digital color display on the right, and the center console has not changed either. In my opinion, at least in these two elements Tiger different from the Panamera, Cayenne or the new 911, it is this look that convinces me more than the tactile panels and the ubiquitous piano black.

However, the multimedia system has changed. We have a new 10,9-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay. Without Android Auto, because Porsche, analyzing the habits of its customers, came to the conclusion that more than 80% of them use smartphones with a bitten apple on the case. The multimedia system allows you to use the new navigation with online services, and also has voice control.

As for security systems, to equip the model Porsche Macan it is joined by a new traffic jam assistant that interacts with advanced active cruise control. However, the most important piece of equipment that should be mandatory for any Porsche is the Sport Chrono package. Why? Firstly, thanks to him, we get control of changing driving modes on the steering wheel using the Sport Response button. This magic button for several tens of seconds allows you to use the maximum potential of the car, available immediately after pressing the gas pedal. It's simple, but ingenious, especially when you need to overtake in a hurry. The Sport Chrono was available before the facelift, but I must stress that buying a new Macan without this package takes away half the fun it offers.

The new Porsche Macan - three liters are better than two

During the presentation near Lisbon, I had the opportunity to get acquainted with both versions of the engine currently available in the price list, i.e. base four-cylinder 2.0 turbo-petrol engine with 245 hp and a maximum torque of 370 Nm, as well as a turbocharged V6 with 354 hp, with a maximum torque of 480 Nm, which is available in Makani S.

And I can write that the two-liter engine offers satisfactory dynamics, but not exciting. I can write what it is Makan S. it gives the feeling of acceleration that I expect from a Porsche. I could write that paying around PLN 50 for a V000 engine is an ideal investment. I could even write that the Macan's base engine was a little disappointing. It does not matter!

But why? Because today more than 80% of Macanów sold are models with a basic two-liter unit. And I sincerely doubt that after the facelift it will be different. What does it mean? That the inline XNUMX-litre engine lives up to the expectations of the vast majority of Porsche Macan buyers. Mat.

Moreover, I agree with the opinion that Porsche Macan continues to hold the title of the world's most drivable compact SUV. Changing tires to symmetrical only strengthened the leading position of this model. And although the main Tiger it drives really confidently, it's every little change: the Sport Chrono package, at least 20-inch wheels or air suspension take the confidence and driving pleasure of this car to a new, higher level. It is a pity that each option and package added to the basic version is associated with a significant reduction in the wallet.

New Porsche Macan - 54 860 PLN separates you from complete happiness?

After enabling the configurator on the official website Porsche we find out that the cheapest possible Tiger must cost at least PLN 248. The price includes all-wheel drive, an ingenious PDK automatic transmission. There will be no parking sensors or a photochromic mirror, but the standard equipment is rich.

Makan S. it is more expensive than the main Makana exactly PLN 54. That's almost a fifth of the Macan's price. However, in my opinion, it is worth paying extra, because the two-liter engine outshines the three-liter V860. Both the Macan and the Macan S are real Porsches, but the one with the S is a bit bigger...

The last five minutes of the diesel Macan

What has changed must change. What needed to be updated was updated. Everything else remained in place. And very well. Although I was not convinced a few years ago to combine the slogans "Porsche" and "Off-road", as I drove the Macan and Cayenne models a little more (both on public roads and on the track, but also on light off-road!), I changed my mind . Whether we drive an SUV, Gran Turismo, limousine, convertible, coupe or track-eater, the Porsche logo on the hood is a must.

New Makanalthough more than "new" it fits the term "refreshed", it is a real Porsche, a real SUV, in whatever version and with whatever equipment it may be equipped. If you are considering buying Makana and you love internal combustion engines, remember that the internal combustion makan is an extinct species.
