Do I need a license to open a car service and how much does it cost?
The auto repair business is a type of employment that will constantly generate tangible income, since car owners are not poor people, and all of them want the car to serve as long and as good as possible. As practice shows, the average car service has a profitability of 70-75 percent, the calculation was carried out as follows:
- one experienced master can service 3-5 cars per day;
- the amount of the average check for payment for services is from 800-1200 rubles, that is, approximately 5-6 thousand per day;
- The salary of the master starts from 30 thousand.
If several such masters work on your box, advertising is set to a good level, then there will be no end to customers. True, you will have to spend money on documents, purchase of equipment, rental of premises, registration.

What documents do you need to provide to open your own car repair business?
First, you need to register as an individual entrepreneur or legal entity, there is a certain procedure for this. Let's say right away that it is much easier and faster to open an IP, and if the business does not go, then it is also quite simple to terminate the activity, while to close an LLC you will have to go through a complex procedure of various checks and audits, which can take several months.
Both individual entrepreneurs and legal entities must also provide documents for the lease of premises, and the SES and fire supervision must put their seals that these premises comply with all standards, GOSTs and SNIPs.
If the owner still wants to undergo voluntary certification, then he needs to contact the Transport Inspectorate with the following documents:
- application for a certificate;
- service list;
- permits from SES, firefighters, ecology, public utilities, Energosbyt;
- for LLC - the charter of the organization.
That's all - the license will be issued within a month, although you can continue to work during this period.
However, after the need to obtain a license disappeared, a new problem arose - mandatory certificates of conformity for all consumables and components. That is, any spare parts, fuels and lubricants, equipment - everything must be certified. If you enter into a contract with any company for the supply of spare parts, then all of them must come with certificates of conformity of the established form.
Gone are the days when it was possible to pull out normal spare parts from some old or beaten car and use them in repairs. Car disassembly is carried out by enterprises that have the appropriate permits.
It is also very important that all measuring instruments are checked - scales, calipers. There are also certain requirements for the training of your subordinates - that is, at least someone must have at least a secondary profile education from a vocational school or technical school.
As mentioned above, a mandatory certificate is not needed now, but the presence of such a voluntary license will cause positive emotions among customers and will increase your authority in the eyes of motorists. In addition, many enterprises are ready to cooperate only with those car services that have been certified. The same applies to suppliers - contracts are signed only with those car services that have licenses.
Based on all of the above, you should focus on your plans - if you plan to open a small box with one or two partners and work for your own pleasure, then a license may not be needed. If you have serious plans to conquer the market, then it is better to get all the necessary certificates.
