Youtuber Bjorn Nyland has finally checked the luggage compartment capacity of the new Nissan Leaf (2018). It turns out that the car included as many as 7 boxes of bananas, thanks to which the car performs better than the Hyundai Ioniq Electric and Jaguar I-Pace (!), Much better than the previous Leaf, and only in its segment. loses to Kia e-Niro.
According to experiments carried out by Bjorn Nyland, the current boot capacity rating (with backrests folded out) is as follows:
- Van Nissan e-NV200 - 50 boxes,
- Tesla Model X for 5 seats - box 10 + 1,
- Tesla Model S before restyling - 8 + 2 boxes,
- Tesla Model X for 6 seats - box 9 + 1,
- Kia e-Niro – 8 box,
- Restyling Tesla Model S - 8 boxes,
- Nissan Leaf (2018) - 7 boxes,
- Kia Soul EV (2018) – 6 boxes,
- Jaguar I-Pace – 6 box,
- Hyundai Ioniq Electric - 6 boxes,
- Nissan Leaf (2013) - 5 boxes,
- Opel Ampera-e - 5 boxes,
- VW e-Golf - 5 boxes,
- Hyundai Kona Electric - 5 boxes,
- VW e-Up - 4 boxes,
- BMW i3 – 4 boxes.
With the seatbacks folded down, the car can hold up to 21 drawers, again just one less than the e-Niro. As such, when it comes to loading capacity, the Nissan Leaf does not only perform better than its competitors in the VW e-Golf and Hyundai Kona Electric segments. The car also wins with the Jaguar I-Pace, which is a larger segment car (D / D-SUV).

Recall that a few days later at CES 2019, the new Nissan Leaf E-Plus will debut with a larger battery and a more powerful engine. It is unknown if the new components will reduce the car's luggage space, but in the first teaser of the car, the Leaf (2019) appears to have a different and slightly more convex rear end:
