Update to Resolve Rapidgate Issue in Nissan Leaf AVAILABLE, But For Europe Only

The Nissan Leafy, released between December 8, 2017 and May 9, 2018, had a multiple fast charge issue. This was manifested in the fact that the car had a reduced rate of energy replenishment when the car was already heavily used and charged on the same day. A software update solves this problem, but it will only be available in… Europe.

The problem of fast loading arose shortly after the first cars hit the market. The enthusiastic owners of the new Nissan Leafs tried to cover more than 300 kilometers with them, and what was their surprise when they spent hours instead of minutes on a second charge.

In December 2018, it was suggested that the Rapidgate problem was solved in the latest Nissan vehicles. A month later it became known that all owners of Leafs released between 8.12.2017/9.05.2018/XNUMX and XNUMX/XNUMX/XNUMX will receive a software update that also resolves the issue (cars that rolled off the assembly line after May 9, 2018 have already been patched with the corresponding patch).

Now it turned out that only Europeans will benefit from the new software... According to information obtained by CleanFleetReport.com (source), "Most US residents do not use multiple fast charges in one day, so they are not affected by this problem."

More than twice a day's use of fast chargers has been described as "exceptional driving" and US dealers have reportedly not complained about slower "fast" charging (source).
