The SX+ sits at the top of the Sportage lineup and starts at a list price of $41,500 for the 2.0-liter automatic petrol variant. That goes up to $43,500 for the 1.6-liter version with dual-clutch automatic transmission, and then $46,900 for the diesel version with automatic transmission.

The SX+ comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, a digital instrument cluster, a six-speaker stereo, a rearview camera, and rear parking. sensors, adaptive cruise control, dual zone climate control, satellite navigation, LED headlights and LED daytime running lights, heated front seats with power driver's seat, privacy glass and a proximity key.

The SX+ comes with a choice of three engines: the 2.0kW/115Nm 192-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was also in the previous model; A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine with 137kW/416Nm and it was back in the old Sportage; but a new 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (replacing the 2.4-litre petrol) with 132 kW/265 Nm was added.

The Sportage has not yet received an ANCAP crash rating and we will let you know when it is announced.

All classes have AEB that can detect cyclists and pedestrians even at interchanges, there's lane departure warning and lane keep assist, rear cross traffic warning with braking, and blind spot warning.
