Review of Land Rover Discovery Sport 2020: S D150

If you choose the entry class of many car brands, this usually means that you will not be provided with a luxurious interior, but this is not the case with the S D150. Almost everything you see in the image below is either the standard or free option.

Upholstered in Light Oyster grained leather, these seats are offered free of charge, but you can also choose from four other colors and textures.

The Fuji White trim on the dash and doors won't cost you a dime more either, and if you're not a fan of that, there's Narvick Black too.

This leather upholstery extends to the third row. In fact, did you know that in most countries you have to pay more for a seven-seater Discovery Sport? In Australia, the third row is standard on the car's list price.

For an SUV that sits in the more affordable end of the range, the interior of the Discovery Sport S D150 is well-equipped, modern and stylishly minimalist in its design.

How practical is it?

The only thing I found impractical about the Discovery Sport was the color of the leather seats.

Sure, it looks like a beautiful layer of snow has gently fallen on your interior, but if you have kids, take snacks on a trip, or wear new blue jeans…then a darker color would be a safer choice.

Now let's talk about the space and storage inside because it's outstanding.

Up front there's a giant covered compartment on the center console big enough for bags or small backpacks, there are huge pockets in all doors, there are six cupholders - two in the front, two in the second row and a couple more in the third.

For charging and media, there is only one USB port on the front and two 12V outlets on board.

We had an optional wireless charger. It's nice to see directional vents for all three rows, and the third row has a fan speed control.

I know it's a Land Rover, but those power window switches are way too high. You feel like you're reaching for a high shelf for a cup of coffee just to roll down the window.

With the third row of trunk up, there's not much room, but the two rear seats fold down for an impressive 754 liters of cargo space.

Conclusion

Okay, maybe you're a bit confused by the Land Rover Discovery Sport S D150 right now.

So let's look at what he's good at and then what he's not so good at.

Good things first.

There is a classy look and feel from that upmarket exterior to the stunning minimalist interior.

This cabin is also spacious and practical, with seven seats, which is not very common in a midsize SUV, and good storage space.

The tech inside also impresses with its wide screen and feature-packed controls.

Finally, it's superb to pilot. This SUV is comfortable, easy to drive and has more off-road capability than most of its competitors.

Now for the not-so-good parts.

My test car consumed a lot more diesel than I expected from an SUV of this size - almost twice as much as the manufacturer should be consuming.

In addition, there is a warranty that is several years shorter than many popular brands offer.

And finally, there were mechanical problems - a malfunction of the ignition. I hope this is just an unfortunate one-time bug with my test machine. This is the first time this has happened to any Land Rover I have tested, and there have been many.
