One of the rarest Ferraris is up for auction
One of six Ferrari 575 Maranello Zagato bodies will be auctioned at RM Sotheby's in Monterey on 14-15 August. Supercar inspired by the limited edition 250 GT LWB Berlinetta Tour de France (TDF), produced from 1956 to 1959.
The unique Ferrari 575 GTZ was made famous by Japanese collector Yoshiyuki Hayashi, who commissioned Zagato to create a modern version of the GT Berlinetta TDF. After examining the archives, the masters of the Italian studio made six copies of the supercar, two of which were received by Hayashi. Rumor has it that he used one for his daily commutes and kept the other in his garage as a work of art. The rest of the models are sold in private collections. None of the released copies have any similar ones.
The two-door GTZ differs from the usual 575 Maranello with a new rounded body with a characteristic "double" Zagato roof, two-tone paint, an oval radiator grille and a completely redesigned interior. The center console, rear and trunk are finished in quilted leather.
The technically unique supercar is no different - a 5,7-liter V12 engine with 515 horsepower, a manual transmission or robotic and adaptive telescopic shock absorbers. The 100 GTZ accelerates from zero to 575 km / h in 4,2 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km / h.
The project received the personal blessing of Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, then president of Ferrari. 575 Maranello is considered one of his best creations, and 575 GTZ is an example of the successful work of the manufacturer and coachbuilder. The price of one of the rarest Ferraris from Zagato has not been announced, but in 2014 such a copy was valued at 1 euros.
