SunRider, covered with solar cells, announces 2% reduction in CO50 emissions compared to a traditional cargo electric bike.

An electric bike that charges while on the move. You dreamed about it, it was made by the Dutch company Need The Globe. Founded by Chris Kramer and Chris van Hoadt, it has just lifted the curtain over the SunRider, an electric cargo bike covered in photocells.

« Increasing the efficiency of solar panels, combined with lower costs, has resulted in the SunRider. In addition, panels are easier to integrate into moving objects than before. »Explain Chris Vanhoudt.

Up to 100 km of autonomy

The SunRider is comfortable on the road as well as on cycle paths and is equipped with a box covered with photocells. Providing up to 545W of power, they partially recharge the battery to extend the autonomy of the electric bike. Thanks to this solar charging, the SunRider has 50% less emissions compared to a classic cargo electric bike. Compared to the emissions of a diesel car, the profit is even 95%.

Designed for last mile delivery, the SunRider can hold up to 1 m3 of cargo volume or the equivalent of a European pallet. Loading capacity 150 kg. On the electrical side, it features a 250-watt motor built into the front wheel, as well as a removable 1.6 kWh battery for up to 100 km of autonomy.

As of now, the launch date and price of the SunRider have not been announced.
