Opel Adam hard to sell in Australia

Opel Australia reports that the Adam - a Hyundai Getz-length three-door - has not been confirmed for sale in Australia.

It's hatching in Europe in the bustling baby car market, but it's still too early to tell if Opel's new car can be mature enough to make it here.

Opel Adam - A change in the name of the founder of the company, Adam Opel is the first new Opel nameplate since the 2008 Insignia. Opel Australia reports that the Adam - a Hyundai Getz-length three-door - has not been confirmed for sale in Australia. But the company says, "This is what we'll be watching."

“The complexity and options for this small car make it difficult to sell in Australia due to long delivery times and so on,” says Michelle Lang, head of marketing at Opel Australia. “However, this is a great product and if we somehow see demand for it here, I will push for it.” The car was unveiled this week in the UK and shows Opel subsidiary Vauxhall has taken a funny attitude towards Adam's marketing.

In the UK, it is available in three trims - Jam (fashionable and colorful), Glam (elegant and sophisticated) and Slam (sporty). The philosophy based on fashion allows you to create up to a million different combinations. Vauxhall claims this gives Adam the ability to personalize in more ways than any other production car.

It has 12 exterior colors including Purple Fiction and James Blonde, with three contrasting roof colors - I'm be Black, White my Fire and Men in Brown. Then there are three option packages - a two-tone black or white package; bright Twisted Pack; and a bold Extreme Pack, as well as three external decal sets called Splat, Fly and Stripes.

Even the headliners come in three versions - Sky (clouds), Fly (autumn leaves) and Go (checkered flag), and there are 18 interchangeable trim panels on the dash and doors, two of which are illuminated by LEDs that Vauxhall claims is the industry first. It features Opel's new IntelliLink infotainment system, which connects a smartphone to the car and is the first system to be compatible with both Android and Apple iOS. This is the first Vauxhall to feature a new generation of advanced parking assistance that detects suitable parking spaces and guides the vehicle into place.

Initially, the UK will have a choice of three four-cylinder petrol engines - a 52-liter 115 kW/1.2 Nm, a 65-liter 130 kW/1.4 Nm and a more powerful 75 kW/130 Nm - but a three-cylinder turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection. gasoline about 1.4 liter will follow. There are no diesels or automatic transmissions in Adam's bag.

The car will compete against the Volkswagen Up and its Skoda Citigo clone, as well as the Hyundai i20, Mitsubishi Mirage, and Nissan Micra, so it needs a sub-$14,000 price tag.
