Opel Mokka 1.6 CDTi (100 kW) Cosmo

It can have 110 'horses' or, as of this year, around 100 kilowatts or 136 'horses'. Such is the top of Mokka's engine range, along with the 1,4-liter turbocharged petrol. What the test Mokka did not have were the remaining parts of the mechanics that would make driving more comfortable and (on slippery roads) more reliable: an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. But both Mokko options are, of course, more expensive (for a good thousand or a bad two), and they can't be imagined together.

Of course, their absence also has a good feature (half the price, of course): such a Mokka can be advantageously economical. Not as much as on paper (we've often written about the fact that the European cycle for measuring consumption is ridiculously useless), but still enough: the 4,7-liter consumption on our standard lap proves that this Mokka, despite its otherwise liveliness can be very frugal. Of course not in all situations. If you use the engine's performance above average, especially on the highway, consumption can also be expected to be higher. Last but not least, the Mokka is a cross between a suitably large frontal area. But the final impression with this freshest version of the motorization is definitely positive: it is lively enough to satisfy even the most demanding drivers, and economical enough to be wallet-friendly.

The rest of the Mokka is as we are used to: the Cosmo label means the highest equipment package, which contains most of the most important pieces of equipment (rain sensor, dual-zone air conditioning, automatic light switching and switching between high and dimmed headlights…), but not all you would expect them at the highest equipment package, especially security. For these, you will have to go for one of the additional packages (for example, the Opel Eye and Premium packages) - and then the price is higher.

In the Mokka, it sits well, expected high, with a slightly too short shift of the driver's seat and in sufficiently comfortable seats. There isn’t plenty of space in the back, of course, but to expect something like that at a 255-centimeter wheelbase would be impossible. The same goes for the amount of space in the rear seats or in the trunk. If expectations are within what external measures already say, there will be no disappointment.

The same goes for the infotainment system (and other switches): be aware that there is no latest variety in origin, so he knows everything he needs to know, but there are too many buttons, and the version is lame in some places. For example, if you switch it to Slovene, you will be guided by voice guidance - this only works if the entire system is set to one of the languages that also have voice guidance files. The programmers apparently went along the line of least resistance.

But these are details that can be confusing, but do not spoil the final ratings of the car: the Mokka is a very good car in this edition.

evaluation

  • The top-of-the-line Cosmo equipment is (at least in part) pampering, and for four-wheel drive and automatic transmission, you have to dig deeper into your pocket. We praise fuel consumption.

We praise and reproach
