Opel Vectra 2.2 DTI Wagon

The body version is read with the word Caravan, which definitely denotes the most comfortable, and also among the buyers one of the most popular versions of the Vecter. Outwardly, the Vectra does not have excessive dimensions, and the moves of its hull have not yet managed to overtake time.

The back is not fully finished, which contributes to a pleasant look and much less usability. Typically, the car holds 460 liters of luggage, which is even less than its little sister, the Astra Caravan, which holds 480 liters. When the rear seat is switched, the Vectra raises to 1490 liters, which helps, but doesn't make much of a sigh.

At least the trunk is nicely designed and is fairly rectangular in size, but it is very worried about the unprepared lid that gets stuck when you want to remove it. It is true that it has stiff rods and you can place lighter items on it, but that does not eliminate assembly and disassembly problems. In addition, the safety net is not built into the cover, as is the case in most modern vans, but is folded in the lower part of the trunk and must be constantly fastened. Thus, readiness and usability were noted as negative.

Testers, especially the taller ones, also complained about the cramped back bench. There was not enough room for either knees or shoulders. Obviously, the driver and co-driver on the side are better. Complete set CDX diapers with full electrification, automatic air conditioning and wood-like plastic.

It's so good (also thanks to a good fit, a comfortable thick steering wheel and radio control buttons on it), and again the ergonomics are lame. The gear lever is pushed too far back and sticks inadvertently when shifting quickly, and the steering wheel only adjusts in height.

The best part of the Vectra is, of course, the engine, which is not the top diesel offering on the market, but is one of the best. We only blamed it for being inflexible at the lowest revs, but already after 1.400 rpm it spoiled us with power and spin all the way to the red box. It rides smoothly and does not load all the time, the car accelerates to 200 km / h, and at the same time it is quite economical. He used an average of 7 liters on the test, but we didn't feel sorry for him at all, and with a particularly gentle ride, he had less than six liters.

Fast travel is never stressful, so the Vectra can be a great long-distance traveler. The suspension is stiff but smooth enough, the road position is solid, the handling is also good, and the brakes do their job well all the time.

Mechanically, the Vectra is perfect, but it lacks inches on the inside and some sophistication in ergonomics.

evaluation

  • The Vectra is one of the most compact midsize cars with good and bad performance. It is quite dynamic in turns, well transparent and, most importantly, quite economical with a modern turbodiesel engine. The biggest mistake is a too small boot, internal tightness, especially in the back seat, not quite perfect ergonomics and a locking gear lever.

We praise and reproach

powerful and economical engine

quiet noise

rich equipment

clean body

good brakes

too small trunk

uncomfortable trunk lid

lockable gear lever

too little space on the back bench
