Despite modern technology, the battery loses its durability after several years of use. Therefore, before leaving, it is worth checking the technical condition of the battery, and if it does not guarantee the correct start and operation of all electrical appliances in the car, buy a new battery. The battery is most often discharged by faulty electrical installations and devices connected to them, such as poor-quality car alarms, faulty relays. Such a battery may not be suitable for further use, so you should not look for ways to resuscitate it, even though some drivers decide to save the battery by replacing the electrolyte. Unnecessary, since deformed plates cannot be restored. Changing the electrolyte and long charging will not help. It is worth avoiding potholes on the road and carefully overcome intersections. This is not an exaggeration, although today's maintenance-free batteries should not cause problems if used correctly.

At each inspection, the service technician constantly checks the level and density of the electrolyte. The mechanic knows that the condition of the battery is affected by: poor alternator and alternator performance, improper voltage regulator operation, loose V-belt, power loss in the electrical system, too many pantographs, poorly tightened connectors (terminals). ), non-working, dirty spark plug electrodes, too low electrolyte content, sulfation of the battery electrodes.

A few practical tips

The battery costs several hundred zł, which is, after all, a considerable expense. Meanwhile, our knowledge about batteries is small and often does not allow them to be used correctly. The result of this is that you have to buy a new battery.

True, many drivers do not have any knowledge about batteries, their parameters. Therefore, if necessary, they focus only on the price and apply the principle - the cheaper the better. Very often, drivers are looking for batteries for a specific brand, for example, for Fiat, and are not interested in the technical parameters recommended by the car manufacturer. A poorly chosen battery is the beginning of trouble and an announcement to buy another battery, perhaps this season.

If you do not follow the recommendations of the vehicle manufacturer, an incorrectly selected battery will fail faster. It simply won't provide you with enough electricity and won't be replenished enough. In such a situation, drivers often blame the manufacturer.

A discharged battery has worse parameters (capacity and starting current) and a more or less distinct change in the color of the electrolyte from transparent to cloudy. A worn out battery cannot be "reanimated". If this is a natural process, you will have to buy a new battery, if it is the result of careless handling, then this is a waste of money.

Many batteries would last much longer if the user noticed in time that he was using them poorly. Many drivers are not interested in the instruction manual because they bought a new battery. They do not take into account that the guarantee is provided only for factory defects. It is assumed that the device is used correctly and the user manual is followed.
