2022 Cupra Ateca Features: High performance and plenty of kit confirmed for new rival Hyundai Kona N and Volkswagen T-Roc R ahead of Australian launch

The Ateca is one of two SUVs being launched by Cupra Australia.

Cupra Australia has detailed the standard equipment - but not the prices - of one of its three performance-focused launch models, the Ateca small SUV, due for a mid-year launch.

With the Hyundai Kona N and Volkswagen T-Roc R in the spotlight, the Ateca is available in a single upscale variant dubbed the VZx, which is powered by a 221kW/400Nm 2.0-liter turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine.

Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system, the Cupra 4Drive VZx accelerates from 100 to 4.9 km/h in just XNUMX seconds.

Standard equipment includes variable ratio steering, adaptive suspension, dusk-sensing LED lights, rain-sensing wipers, and black/copper 19-inch Exclusive Sport alloy wheels (with compact spare).

In addition, there are auto-folding heated side mirrors with dark aluminum covers, puddle lights, black roof rails, keyless entry, rear privacy glass, a hands-free power liftgate and four tailpipes.

Inside, keyless start, a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity, a nine-speaker 340W Beats audio system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and wireless smartphone charging.

Buyers also get a heated sports steering wheel, heated front sports seats (including driver power adjustment and memory function), three-zone climate control, Petrol Blue leather upholstery, ambient lighting, aluminum pedals and illuminated treadplates.

Advanced driver assistance systems extend to autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping and steering assist, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, driver attention warning, blind spot monitoring, parking assist, surround view cameras, front and rear parking sensors, safe exit warning and tire pressure monitoring.

Options include Brembo brakes, an Akrapovic sports exhaust system and a panoramic sunroof. Dark Camouflage is the only premium paint option, along with complimentary Nevada White, Graphite Gray, and Magic Black metallics.
