Beware the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX! Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Walkinshaw Officially Brings Crazy Supercharged V8 Power to Super Fight

The Walkinshaw Performance Supercharger Kit for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 takes the full-size pickup truck to the next level.

Walkinshaw Performance, a subsidiary of HSV, will soon be releasing its long-awaited fourth-generation Chevrolet Silverado 1500 supercharger kit, which is "rebuilt" on site by parent company Walkinshaw Group and sold through GMSV.

As promised, the supercharger kit takes the performance of the Silverado 1500 to a new level: its 6.2-litre V87 L8 petrol engine has been boosted from 313kW/624Nm to what Walkinshaw Performance describes as a "conservative" maximum of 485kW/839Nm.

These peaks develop when a supercharger kit (with an Eaton TVS2650 blower developed in conjunction with Harrop Engineering) is installed in conjunction with a complete Walkinshaw Performance sports exhaust system that unleashes a bit more and torque from the entire setup.

Final result? Quarter mile (0-402 m) times are just 12.66 seconds (at 177 km/h) during Walkinshaw Performance testing, and 100 km/h is reached in just 4.76 seconds. For reference, this is 1.3 and 1.23 seconds faster than the stock Silverado 1500.

And given that no internal engine modifications are required to accommodate the supercharger kit, an ECU recalibration means the entire V8 retains all of its factory features, including cylinder deactivation technology, an idle stop system, and 4500kg brake pull.

Speaking to Cars GuideWalkinshaw Group General Manager Rick Percold confirmed that the supercharger kit will go on sale "sometime in December" and Walkinshaw Performance is going to sell it for $21,990, not including installation, but with a three-year warranty.

The supercharger kit will be available through 31 Walkinshaw Performance dealer networks in Australia and New Zealand and can be installed on both variants of the Silverado 1500 sold by GMSV: LT Trail Boss ($106,990 plus travel expenses) and LTZ Premium ($114,990) .

Needless to say, the supercharger kit arrives at the perfect time, as another full-size pickup truck redesigned by The Walkinshaw Group, the DT Ram 1500 Ateco Group, is about to get the new V8-powered performance flagship, the TRX.

The Ram 1500 TRX is said to produce more power and torque at 522kW and 868Nm and hit triple digits faster in 4.5s, but only time will tell how the Silverado 1500 with the Walkinshaw Performance supercharger kit performs in the real world. Keep for updates.
