French group Easybike opened on Tuesday, November 24, a plant in Saint-Lo to manufacture electric bicycles Solex and Matra, two brands owned by Easybike.

As a result of a public-private partnership, the plant was built by the customer of the Saint-Lo Agglomeration Community in the amount of 3,9 million euros and with the support of the Department of the Manche in the amount of 300 euros. On an area of ​​000 4100 m², the factory has two production lines.

“I come to meet the pioneers. Something very important is going on here. This is Solex's return to France. This excellent work will serve as a model: we are at the beginning of a wave of displacement. " - said Arno Monteburg, who was present at the event. The former production recovery minister was one of the first to support Easybike's "French production" initiative in 2013.

20.000 e-bikes in 2016

In total, about 40 employees of the group will be based in Saint-Lo, in addition to 30 employees at its headquarters in Paris, and Easybike is announcing rather ambitious production targets: 20 e-bikes in 000 and 2016 in 60. Meanwhile, Easybike plans to hire 000 to 2018 people in 60 to ensure productivity.
