Vacation in the car: we will take care of your safety

Holidays are a period when the traffic of cars, buses and increasingly popular motorcycles and scooters increases significantly on the roads of the voivodship. In addition, the time of rest and travel encourages us to change our lifestyle. Staying in foreign countries makes us forget about our habits. While having fun, we often underestimate the danger. We become more relaxed, less attentive and alert.

Last year, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, 328 traffic accidents occurred during the summer holidays, in which 31 people died and 425 were injured. The causes of accidents have remained the same for years: speeding, failure to give right of way, improper overtaking and driver fatigue caused by overtime. Safe access to the holiday and a safe return home is largely up to us. Therefore, in order for the days of holiday rest to pass without stress and negative consequences, it is worth remembering once again a few basic safety rules:

Plan your route in advance

It is better to adjust the departure and return times to avoid traffic jams when leaving and returning to the city. It is worth remembering that during the holiday season, restrictions are introduced on the movement of vehicles and road trains with a maximum permissible weight of more than 12 tons, with the exception of buses. The traffic ban for these vehicles is in effect on Fridays from 18.00 to 22.00, Saturdays from 8.00:14.00 to 8.00:22.00 and Sundays from XNUMX to XNUMX.

Use alternative routes

In the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, routes are marked as an alternative to the main roads leading to coastal towns. It is worth using them in the summer season, as they are less loaded with traffic, which in turn avoids traffic jams.

Check Documents

Before leaving, it is good to check the documents (driver's license, registration certificate, OSAGO) and make sure that the insurance policy is valid and that the vehicle inspection is not approaching.

Make sure the car is technically sound

Before leaving, check the current technical condition and equipment of the car, including the efficiency and operation of the brakes, the operability of the electrical system, especially the operation of all lights.

Plan your luggage in the car

We pack luggage so that it does not interfere with the view and does not move while driving. Remember to store items such as a fire extinguisher, warning triangle, first aid kit and flashlight in a place that you have easy and quick access to!!!

Hit the road refreshed, sober and relaxed.

Before you start driving, do not forget to fasten your seat belt and oblige other passengers to do so. Children under the age of 12 in the front seat must always be transported in a car seat, i.e. in a protective device with its own belts, in the back seat, children under 12 years of age or no taller than 150 cm must be placed in a protective seat or other device used for this purpose. It can be a platform or a seat. The choice of device depends on the weight and height of the child.

Do not hurry. Plan your travel breaks

Take your time while traveling. It is better to drive at a safe speed, obey the orders and prohibitions arising from signs, traffic lights and orders of authorized persons. Be aware that police or speed cameras may be waiting for reckless drivers near speed limits. In addition, an unmarked police car with a dash cam may be waiting for a speeding driver. The cassette will record not only speeding, but also other violations, such as overtaking on a double or single solid lane, overtaking on the "third", crossing the road, violation of the right of way, etc. A few minutes of recording reckless driving can really be expensive cost. Penalty points are also a harsh punishment for drivers.

Choose a suitable place to park your car

When we are happy to reach our destination, let's choose the right place to park. Do not forget to carefully close the windows, doors and trunk, and take valuable items from the car. It is best to remove all personal items - take with you or put in the trunk. Do not forget about the protection of the walkie-talkie so that it does not tempt thieves with its appearance.
